Job Summary:  

 

The minor league strength and conditioning coach is responsible for implementing and monitoring year-round strength and conditioning programs for assigned minor league players within the Tigers organization. Working closely with performance, medical, and skill development coaches, this role ensures that athletes are physically prepared to meet the demands of professional baseball while promoting long-term development. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

·       Implement all elements of the Detroit Tigers Strength and Conditioning Program, including leading/supervising team Warm-ups, Strength Training sessions, and Conditioning sessions 

·       Perform periodic, serial testing and evaluation of players’ physical and movement capacities, and utilize the information to provide individualized training programs  

·       Collaborate with On-Field Staff to design integrated, individualized performance and movement-enhancement strategies  

·       Collaborate with Medical staff on the implementation of rehab/return to play programs for injured athletes 

·       Collaborate with Performance Science staff, including assisting with data entry and utilization of Sport Science Technology  

·       Collaborate with Managers, Coaches, Medical Staff, and Performance Science Staff to manage player workload  

·       Collaborate with and support Performance Nutrition staff to assist with the management of daily nutrition/fueling initiatives for players 

·       Travel with the team during the season for all road trips/games  

·       Perform daily facility maintenance and cleaning 

·       Assist with off-season communication with select Minor League athletes 

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities: 

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field   

·       CSCS Certified through NSCA 

·       CPR/AED and First Aid Certified 

·       Minimum two years of full-time experience field of Strength and Conditioning, preferably in Professional Baseball  

·       Basic knowledge and application of skills related to performance nutrition  

·       Ability to relocate to Lakeland, FL for Spring Training and assigned affiliate for the duration of the competitive season and work full-time hours as dictated by the daily/weekly schedule  

·       Excellent organizational and interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills  

·       Ability to lift 50+ pounds

·       Evenings, weekend, and holiday hours are required
