JOB SUMMARY:

This seasonal position is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Detroit Red Wings youth hockey programs.  In addition, position is responsible for coordinating any youth hockey functions that are taking place at Little Caesars Arena.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in all facets of the Little Wings program including marketing creative, logistics, rink relations, alumni involvement at local hockey rinks across the state of Michigan.
  • Help to increase hockey awareness and participation in Michigan through grassroots initiatives, learn to skate, ball hockey, learn to play programs.
  • Work with our BI team to increase our database leading to more ticket sales
  • Expand rink program into new rinks in Michigan
  • Develop new youth hockey initiatives such as women’s hockey clinic, goalie and coaching clinics.
  • Help to grow Learn Play Score Program
  • Help coordinate logistics of Summer Street Hockey Programs in Metro Detroit.
  • Develop and coordinate rink program with local rinks across the state of Michigan.
  • Work with Community Relations department to develop new grassroots initiatives that will encourage schools to partner with our organization and grow the sport of hockey.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related fields
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent writing skills are necessary
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Excellent organization and analytical skills
  • Previous community outreach experience preferred
  • Previous professional sports experience preferred
  • Previous hockey playing / coaching experience preferred
  • Available to work on most home game days

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Office and stadium environment
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday hours required
