POSITION OVERVIEW: The New Jersey Devils Athlete Care Department delivers the highest quality of medical and performance services to all, fostering deep, caring relationships as we innovate, grow, and learn to keep athletes safe and transform talent into excellence. Movement and function are crucial underpinnings to athletic performance ability. Our performance methodology seeks to maximize athletic development and create a transferrable impact on hockey performance.

This role will involve building upon a progressive medical and performance methodology, instructing and delivering strength and conditioning-related services primarily to our injured players and secondarily to the remainder of the team. This role will be expected to incorporate objective measures to proactively evaluate the recovery process back to full participation and assist the medical staff with delivering tailored daily programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
–   Lead strength and conditioning programming for injured athletes
–   Assist with rehabilitative care to healthy and injured players, as needed
–   Lead individual, player-specific daily programming in alignment with medical and performance needs that align with global strength and conditioning programming for individual players
–   Assist with team-wide weight room strength interventions
–   Assist with nutritional support under the direction of team dietitian as requested/required by VP of Athlete Care
–   Assist with player-specific assessments for health and rehabilitative purposes

INTEGRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
–   Provide a high quality, professional and thorough service across all aspects of your general responsibilities
–   Complete all specific tasks delegated to you by the Medical Director or Vice President of Athlete Care in a timely and efficient manner
–   Yearly review of injury management and return to competition protocols with respect to the most recent evidence
–   Monthly review of all specific injury management at the club with emphasis on points of improvement
–   Contribution to the development and maintenance of an Operations Manual for the medical and performance department
–   Provide education in-services as required on topics suggested by the Vice President, Athlete Care Services, including at least one presentation on the views of an external professional in a field of interest to the group
–   Provide regular updates on journal articles of interest to the group
–   Provide summaries of relevant information to the group on any conferences or courses attended during the season

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
–   Doctorate of Physical Therapy
–   Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach
–   Minimum 5 years of post-professional experience
–   Professional sports experience required; hockey experience highly encouraged
–   Experienced with technologies and data management systems to ensure the secure and efficient storage of monitoring and evaluation data

WORKING CONDITIONS
Travel: Will be a New Jersey-based opportunity; occasional travel may occur and may require air travel and/or overnight stay for one or more nights
Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to lift heavy loads (30+ lbs)
Work Environment: This position generally requires that work be performed from the Prudential Center / New Jersey Devils offices, but attendance at events taking place in the arena or offsite, including on weekends and/or holidays, may be required

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $115,000 and $130,000/year. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.  Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

This position will be an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
