POSITION OVERVIEW
The Grants & Community Manager plays an essential role in advancing the Devils Youth Foundation’s mission by supporting our grantmaking processes and fostering meaningful relationships with community partners. This position combines community‑based work, in‑arena partner engagement, and ongoing communications responsibilities, including consistent management of the Foundation’s social media channels.

The Manager spends weekly time outside the office conducting site visits, meeting with partners, attending youth programs, and representing the Foundation across the state. In addition, the role supports DYF‑sponsored partner events inside Prudential Center, participates in New Jersey Devils home games, and works select concerts and arena events – requiring availability outside traditional business hours.

While frequently off‑site or supporting live events, the Manager remains responsible for timely communications, partner responsiveness, and consistent storytelling that highlights the Foundation’s impact.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Grantmaking Support
  • Manages the full life cycle of the Foundation’s grants, including research, due diligence preparation, progress tracking, and drafting grant‑related communications.
  • Helps maintain and improve grantmaking workflows, tools, and procedures to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Corresponds with applicants and grantees under the guidance of the Executive Director.
  • Tracks key deadlines, reports, follow‑ups, and grant documentation across all programs.
Community & Partner Engagement
  • Conducts weekly community‑based work, including site visits, partner meetings, collaborative sessions, and participation in community events.
  • Strengthens relationships with current partners and supports the cultivation of new partnerships by serving as a responsive, consistent Foundation representative.
  • Works with internal partners inside Prudential Center on DYF‑sponsored partner events, activations, and programs.
  • Represents the Foundation during New Jersey Devils home games and select concerts or large‑scale arena events, including evenings and weekends.
  • Helps coordinate partner engagement opportunities, peer connections, and programmatic touchpoints to support shared learning and community impact.
Communications & Storytelling
  • Manages the Foundation’s social media channels, ensuring consistent, timely posting – even when off‑site or working live events.
  • Captures content during site visits, partner programs, arena activations, game nights, and other events to support storytelling and digital engagement.
  • Drafts compelling narratives, gathers partner stories, and collaborates with staff on newsletters, website updates, and impact communications.
  • Helps elevate visibility of grantees and community partners across all platforms.
Foundation Operations & Events
  • Supports Executive Director for Board‑related activities, including preparing materials, reports, and presentations.
  • Assists with management of the Devils Alumni Scholarship program, including applicant communication, tracking submissions, coordinating review steps, and supporting award announcements and recognition.
  • Works with the DYF Team to coordinate annual fundraisers, community programs, and Foundation events.
  • Works DYF‑sponsored partner events inside Prudential Center and collaborates with arena staff and community partners to ensure smooth execution.
  • Participates in New Jersey Devils home games and select concerts or arena events, requiring evening and weekend availability.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to work efficiently across multiple projects with shifting priorities.
  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Genuine passion for supporting communities and appreciation for the role of sport – especially ice hockey – as a tool for youth development.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of youth development, systems change, or community‑based work preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • One to three years of experience in the nonprofit and/or government sectors preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs, opportunities, and interests of youth and local communities.
  • Experience engaging with diverse community members and stakeholders.
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, game nights, and select arena events in addition to regular weekday community work.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout New Jersey.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work Environment: This position generally requires that work be performed from the New Jersey Devils office in Newark, NJ and requires attendance at events taking place at the Prudential Center. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays depending on game schedule.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to move items up to 25 pounds.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $55,000 and $65,000/year.  Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

This position will be an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
