The Department of Sports Administration (DSA) in the College of Business at Ohio University is home to world-ranked programs, and is home to the oldest sport management program in the world. We are recruiting for a non-tenured, full-time Lecturer teaching position with expertise in high school sports to teach in our online Masters of Athletic Administration (MAA) program. This position is based on our campus in beautiful Athens, Ohio and is set to begin Fall 2019 semester, with the opportunity to begin Summer 2019 (May), and is pending budgetary approval. AACSB professionally qualified scholars are welcome to apply. Consideration will be given to candidates with experience working in high school sports, connection to the athletic administration industry, university level teaching, online teaching, consulting, and related work experience.

The successful candidates will be teaching focused, reflecting on sport industry work experience at the scholastic level, and will work with students, alumni and friends of the MAA program. An interest and experience in online teaching and online course development are assets. The teaching load, provided AACSB qualifications are met, is typically 7 courses for professionally qualified professors. Positions are 9-month contracts, although opportunities to teach in the summer, international programs, and executive education exist. This position will teach largely in the MAA program and include service responsibilities to the department. A role with the MAA alumni advisory board is expected.

The DSA is one of six departments in the College of Business and currently includes 13 full-time faculty members. Over the past few years, the DSA has continued to grow and remains one of the world’s leading sport management institutions. The DSA offers one undergraduate and three graduate programs, as well as executive education. Currently, the DSA has approximately 500 undergraduate majors in Sport Management and 350 graduate students in its three programs, the Master of Sports Administration, the Professional Master of Sports Administration, and the Master in Athletic Administration. Ohio University’s Sports Administration program maintains close connections with many of our more than 4,000 alumni, most of whom work in the sport industry, and who provide a crucial base of support for our programs, including hosting interns, serving as mentors, providing consulting and research projects, serving as guest lecturers, and providing financial support. The AECOM Center for Sports Administration, housed in the DSA, brings together students, alumni, and sport industry executives, and serves as a resource to address the issues facing the sport industry. Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have earned a Graduate degree, have at least 4 years of progressive industry experience, and an ability to teach sales and marketing courses by start date of employment.
