MAINTENANCE STAFF

1. MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST

SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the functionality of the venue prior, during, and after concerts and events. The Maintenance Specialist will perform various maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, electrical, heating / air conditioning systems, or construction tasks as they arise to make sure the venue is looking and functioning to its best potential. This individual will oversee daily, weekly, and monthly scheduled cleaning and various assigned maintenance projects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform daily, event, and regularly scheduled cleaning and maintenance projects.
  • Responsible for the overall maintenance of the venue, including carpet repair/cleaning, painting of interior/exterior, ADA lift repair, bathroom maintenance, upkeep of air-conditioning and heating, electrical and plumbing work, other repairs/maintenance as needed.
  • Perform duties as directed by Operations Manager to maintain all facility equipment in good working condition.
  • Assist with inspecting systems throughout the facility to detect malfunctions and determine solutions for repair.
  • Participate in developing standard procedures for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of venue and all associated assets.
  • Assist with the purchase of work materials as needed or as directed.
  • May be responsible for coordinating with outside vendors on repair and maintenance work.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or its equivalency
  • 1-2 years of related work experience
  • Must have immediate knowledge of electrical systems and plumbing systems – National Electrical Code a plus
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and work effectively in a high-pressure environment
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays
  • Experience in proper cleaning solutions and overall repair/maintenance
  • Must be able to climb, crawl, bend, and stoop with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be self-motivated, reliable, and punctual
  • Must have a positive attitude and be team oriented
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • HVAC experience a plus

 

2. SKILLED LABORER

SUMMARY

The Skilled Laborer will support the Facilities & Maintenance team by assisting with event maintenance, carpentry and construction tasks at the event while maintaining a safe work environment. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing major repairs, constructing and deconstructing temporary structures, and installing various systems and equipment

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform skilled tasks including repairing equipment and furniture; constructing structures; and installing drain pipes, plumbing systems, heating systems, ventilation systems, cooling systems, and fixtures. 
  • Perform construction and carpentry projects using wood, metal, hand tools and powered tools to build and deconstruct temporary structures, build frames, and hang dry wall.  
  • Abide by all safety trainings and precautions when using tools, machinery and utility vehicles (i.e. saws, drills, forklifts, burden carriers, tow tractors) to ensure the safety of all team members, including wearing full uniform.     
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and sanitary work area to remain in compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations. 
  • Perform general custodial tasks like plumbing, cleaning and polishing furniture and fixtures, painting, mopping, sweeping, replenishing supplies, and disposing of trash as needed 
  • Meet project deadlines in accordance to the event schedule provided by management, while also communicating any possible delays to avoid incomplete projects. 
  • Operate heavy machinery and utility vehicles (i.e. forklifts, burden carriers, tow tractors), abiding by all safety trainings and precautions to ensure the safety of all team members.     

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or its equivalency  
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of related work experience  
  • Previous construction, carpentry, and/or maintenance experience required 
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License  
  • Forklift certification preferred 
  • Able to operate hand tools and powered tools: hammer, saw, pallet jack 
  • Strong communication skills  
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong attention to details 
  • Able to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions 
  • Able to multi-task and shift priorities 
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch 
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull over 50lbs 
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods  
  • Must be available holidays, nights, and weekends

 

3. PORTER (CUSTODIAL)

SUMMARY

The Porter will be responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of all areas of the event including the main floor, mezzanine, backstage, bathrooms, bars, etc. The Porter is also responsible for basic building upkeep and maintenance including changing lightbulbs, basic light construction tasks, painting, restocking cleaning supplies, and more as needed. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Post event cleaning: follow procedures and cleaning routines as scheduled for sweeping/mopping, emptying trash cans and replacing liners, wiping down surface areas, clean-up spills and fluids, and ensuring general cleanliness and quality standards are met before the next event arrives. 
  • Perform maintenance as needed including changing lightbulbs, painting, light construction, repair, and more as assigned. 
  • Restock and reorder supplies as needed, manifest and report large scale repair needs and ensure the general upkeep of the venue from a maintenance perspective. 
  • Complete all assigned tasks within the guidelines & deadlines set by Supervisors and Event Manager. 
  • Inspect assigned work area prior to and during event, looking for safety hazards, facility issues, housekeeping needs, personal injuries, etc.
  • Report issues to Supervisor or Event Manager. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or its equivalency  
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of related work experience  
  • Reliable, punctual, and regular in attendance  
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Ability to take direction and work well with others 
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time (4-6 hours per shift) and lift tables, chairs, etc. 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays 
  • Employee must use precautions and follow safety guidelines
