The Opportunity

As the Social Media & Vertical Content Coordinator at INDYCAR, you'll be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day social channel management and manage content creation across INDYCAR-owned channels (@INDYCAR and @INDYNXT). Reporting to the Social Media Manager, they will be tasked with executing on the overarching social strategy through content creation, content development, community management, and a continual focus on engaging and growing the fan and customer base. The Social Media & Vertical Content Coordinator will leverage a deep knowledge of content creation, focused on short-form deliverables, and publishing to major social media platforms with an understanding of how users digest and engage with social content to maximize our impact in the social space. They will be passionate about social media, content creation and the role it plays in the fan and customer journey.

 

Who You Are

  • Action-Oriented – With 2+ years of related experience, you have a deep understanding of major social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, TikTok, Threads, etc.) and are ready to own your role, working within a dynamic team that celebrates speed, creativity and collaboration.
  • Trend Seeker - You stay current on the latest trends across the social space. You’re always looking for the next opportunity and finding ways to make them relevant to your audience and the brand.
  • Passion Driven – You’re passionate about the sport & entertainment industry, being able to find what will be relevant to audiences in social right now and will gain attention based on the latest updates to algorithms on short-form content channels such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
  • Problem Solver – When faced with challenging moments, you find a way to stay creative and think through practical solutions to keep moving forward while differentiating the content from others in the industry.
  • Detail-Oriented – You’re proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects. To you, the details matter. You have an eye for catching the right moment, while also proofing and double-checking facts for accuracy.
  • Proactive – You’re a self-starter who doesn’t wait for things to happen – you make them happen! You recognize and react to real-time, emerging moments that will connect with and encourage audiences to interact.
  • Collaborative – You thrive on teamwork, seamlessly maintaining positive relationships internally and externally toward shared goals. You maintain high professionalism that will help all parties achieve mutual success.

 

A Day In The Life 

  • Social Content Execution - Assist the day-to-day execution of social media content strategy across all INDYCAR and INDY NXT platforms with an emphasis on driving fan engagement, audience growth, and brand and driver awareness.
  • Content Creation - Create compelling content, focused on strong hype, educational and storytelling for all INDYCAR-owned social media channels, including but not limited to: Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, Threads and YouTube for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES (@INDYCAR), INDY NXT by Firestone (@INDYNXT) and affiliated platforms.
  • Enthusiastic and Organized - Work with the Social Media Manager to develop and execute tactics that meet the overarching strategy to amplify the INDYCAR brand and drive fan engagement across all social media platforms.
  • Performance Reporting - Monitor content and campaign performance through regular reporting to continually maximize effectiveness of content strategy.
  • Cross-Functional - Work directly with internal creative, production, partnership and communications departments, and the series' race teams to promote events, drivers and key INDYCAR initiatives with a unified, impactful voice.
  • Community Focused – Assist with management of social listening, leading tactics to foster brand loyalty and drive positive sentiment within the community on social for the brand and its events. Includes understanding the role it plays in social media and sports fan engagement.
  • Innovation - Continually identify content trends and opportunities for community building and engagement, leading the way with thoughtful ideas that drive positive series-to-fan connection and ignite a passion for INDYCAR.

  • Indianapolis, IN

Travel/Work Hours/Flexibility

  • General office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
  • Longer hours and weekends required for the Month of May and other major racing events.
  • Penske Entertainment acknowledges that the need for flexibility varies across all companies/departments and is not best addressed by a one size fits all flexible work policy. As such, the company encourages supervisors to work with their employees to leverage flexibility as needed to support a healthy balance.
