NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Director, Revenue Accounting based in Daytona Beach, FL.

Provides leadership for the revenue function. Responsible for the oversight of contract review and revenue recognition for all revenue streams. Determines appropriate accounting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and ensures all revenue is recorded appropriately. Manages monthly revenue close efforts. Provides guidance and support to Financial Planning and Analysis, Financial Reporting and Field Accounting Directors. Stays abreast of best practices and leads projects to create efficiencies.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provides strong leadership for the revenue accounting function.
  • Ensure contracts are reviewed for appropriate revenue recognition by the appropriate level of management and that all conclusions are sufficiently documented.
  • Support sales, partnership marketing and legal regarding contractual language in new contracts and amendments. Research accounting to ensure understanding of financial implications. Writes technical memos as needed to support position.
  • Lead and direct the Revenue team with month end close and related analysis and other tasks related to the preparation of financial statements by the Financial Reporting group. Ensures all revenue is properly recorded and reconciled. Research/explain all significant variances.
  • Manages and reviews the contracts and calculations for licensing. Prepares related financial reporting.
  • Support annual external audit by providing analysis and other documentation. Interface with auditors as needed.
  • Maintains revenue policies and processes and ensure appropriate internal controls. Recommend modifications to existing policies and procedures.
  • Lead initiatives that focus on streamlining the revenue processes so they align with the overall goals of the organization.
  • Oversee technology used to manage revenue in Workday. Ensure revenue policies are properly set up within Workday in accordance with GAAP account and system is working efficiently.
  • Support field directors of accounting as to revenue contracts.
  • Assist in special projects and analysis, as required. Coordinate requests for data and analysis from other departments and functional areas (i.e. tax, legal, sales)

  • Directly supervises assigned staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required skills / experience:

  • Master’s degree (M. A.) or equivalent; and five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some public accounting experience is preferred. Must have a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Proficient on Company-provided hardware and software. Must have strong experience with accounting and/or financial reporting systems. Demonstrate ability to manage an ERP cloud-based system and or other similar types of technology. Strong knowledge of Microsoft office products with advance knowledge of excel is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred or similar certification.
  • Must have strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles especially revenue recognition (606) or other technical accounting matters.
  • Also, should have experience with high volumes of intercompany transactions and a solid understanding of consolidations.
  • Must be able to communicate with management at all levels and build and maintain working relationships with business personnel and other finance groups and provide subject matter expertise and assistance.
  • This position will be required to work overtime as needed, to meet the objectives of the position and the department.
