The Sales Manager of Conventions, Conferences and Meeting Space, is responsible for developing corporate event business for Daytona International Speedway venue and the One DAYTONA entertainment district.  This role is responsible for lead and revenue generation and marketing the Speedway as a convention & large scale meeting destination throughout the year.

  • Develop a marketing and business plan to support the continued growth of conventions, conference and large scale meeting event business at Daytona International Speedway
  • Prepare a sales report monthly to show performance trends against revenue goals and maintain active pipeline of potential 
  • Maintain sales collateral, join trade associations, attend industry events and host meeting planners to generate and cultivate leads and convert to sales
  • Generate bookings for private events according to the priorities outlined in the sales plan, which shall include meeting certain seasonal and market segment factors
  • In tandem with private event prospecting, relationship calling and cold calling, promote/procure joint sales opportunities for One DAYTONA hotel properties The Fairfield Inn by Marriot and The DAYTONA (Autograph Collection Hotel), working in collaboration with their sales teams and the CVB to deliver quantifiable results
  • Convert leads to confirmed business; prepare proposals including quoting costs as well as executing and overseeing client site inspections and working with ISC Legal to prepare and redline the private event rental contact based on client feedback, ultimately handing off client to the event execution account team
  • Maintain good product knowledge of the destination including the market area (attractions, recreation, climate, etc.), as well as ONE DAYTONA offerings and Daytona International Speedway event opportunities.
  • Will work in conjunction with numerous internal departments at DIS to facilitate seamless event execution
  • Foster good relationship with Daytona Beach CVB, Visit Orlando and Visit Florida to develop leads
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and competing cities and/or venues (ie. through trade journals, industry participation and travel)
  • Conduct site tours with potential clients
  • Manage client relationships to ensure adequate account servicing and repeat business
  • Assist the DIS Sales team during Event Season in premium club and suite areas
  • Execute all other duties as assigned by Sr. Director of Sales

  • Minimum of 3 year’s sales and/or management experience in related field, preferably convention bureau, facility or hotel sales and convention services
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S./B.A.) from four-year college or university in management, sales, marketing or related field
  • A passion for sales and customer development 
  • Strong understanding of sales cycle and have industry contacts a plus
  • Relationship building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact comfortably and effectively with internal and external clients at all levels of the applicable organizations
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong work ethic, results oriented and the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment and ability to work independently 
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and time management and attention to detail
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as required
  • Must be a team player, self-starter, persistent and professional
