The Role and What You’ll Do:

The Director of Event Production is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of UFC live events in various domestic and international regions including local language productions and on-air related initiatives for the UFC Event Production Division based in the Las Vegas office. This position will supervise the technical aspects of the events including the on-air broadcasts, the in-venue productions, the worldwide transmissions, as well as coordination of event production logistics and assuring quality control of all sub-contracted operations.  In addition, this role will facilitate internal and external live and posted productions, events and functions at UFC Apex, a state-of-the art production and broadcast facility in Las Vegas. 

  • Oversee creative development and logistics of production related efforts for event week promotional initiatives, live events, and the execution of on-air and live streaming elements.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams such as Sponsorship, Marketing, Operations, Regulatory and domestic and international television partners.
  • Provide creative vision and critiques of various elements for production enhancements to improve fan experiences and quality of the events and broadcasts.
  • Maintain quality control of on-air product.
  • Create a system for tracking on air issues for continual improvement of future broadcasts and productions.
  • Work with vendors to identify and secure required resources for various production needs.
  • Collaborate with Operations Department to secure transport of production facilities and equipment for domestic and international events and ensure efficient load in, setup and execution of event and broadcast productions.
  • Correspond often with event touring video, lighting, sound and comms departments on the functionality and integrity of UFC owned assets, facilitate repairs and ensure annual system maintenance is performed.
  • Work with internal colleagues to ensure international licensees are receiving all broadcast and technical documentation in a timely manner and to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain relationships with international licensees and initiate connections with new partners and channels of distribution during their on boarding process.
  • Work with distribution and content partners to ensure live transmission is delivered correctly and/or file- based delivery meets their needs.
  • Correspond often with transmission project manager and engineers and ensuring they have the most up to date information on event scope, dates, times, locations and licensee deliverables in order to deliver event transmission plans and subsequent budgets in a timely manner.
  • Work with international partners on onsite productions and facilitate their technical needs in the execution of their broadcasts.
  • Supervise unilateral broadcasts and transmissions and ensuring the successful execution of sponsored assets within the production.
  • Work with post-production teams to ensure event records are delivered in a timely manner and with the utmost quality.
  • Work closely with Production Managers in scheduling control room and studio crews for various internal and external productions at UFC Apex.
  • Work with a team of engineers to ensure technical quality and readiness UFC Apex Broadcast Operations Center for various sports, entertainment and corporate events, productions & broadcasts.
  • Initiate technical and production discussions with potential 3rd party clients for UFC Apex and formulate solutions and estimates to contribute to formal proposals.
  • Oversee the successful technical operations of 3rd party events and productions in addition to internal live events and studio productions at UFC Apex.
  • Initiate and maintain a database of crew evaluations for scheduling, rate negotiations and potential performance reviews.
  • Work with internal departments to facilitate production needs on various corporate related initiatives and functions such as town halls, press conferences or corporate parties.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and new technologies for potential integration into broadcasts and for creating operational efficiencies within the productions.

You Have These:

  • Bachelor's degree with studies in television production or digital media a plus.
  • 4+ years of broadcast remote operations and studio production experience (preferably network level) and 2+ years of project management experience.
  • Financial forecasts and budget preparation and management experience.
  • Knowledge of production equipment functionality including video switchers, audio consoles, graphics platforms, replay servers, camera systems, signal transport and video transmission solutions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Work well under pressure, including tight deadlines.
