The Role and What You’ll Do:

The Director of Technical Operations reports to the VP of Field Operations and oversees the coordination of all technical facilities, equipment procurement and logistics, prepares financial estimates and budgets as well as the creation and dissemination of technical documents for the successful execution of live remote and studio-based broadcasts and productions.

  • Leads the planning and set up of all remote and studio-based broadcasts and productions as it relates to the technical operations.
  • Collaborates with producers and venue ops to develop schedules, operational and transmission plans in the execution of production requirements.   
  • Oversees and manages the development and implementation of efficient workflows and processes through the preparation of technical documents to guide the execution of and meet production needs.
  • Performs project analysis, vendor RFP reviews and awards long and short-term contracts based on thorough examination of vendor capabilities, industry experience, customer satisfaction and meeting fiscal objectives.
  • Outlines and drafts financial estimates and budgets for all aspects of technical operations including facility, equipment and logistics for remote and studio productions.
  • Collaborates with Technical Operations Managers to ensure efficient and successful logistics planning for all vendors, technical facilities and rental equipment.
  • Provides on-site technical operational oversight at tent pole events and other remote productions where additional support is required.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with all internal domestic and international event related stakeholders and external facilities and equipment vendors.
  • Continuously analyzes current operations while collaborating with vendors, equipment manufacturers and technology groups on innovation, production enhancements and new developments.

You Have These:

  •  Bachelor's degree with studies in television production or digital media
  • 5+ years of broadcast remote operations experience (preferably network level) in a management or supervisory role
  • Live sports remote production experience and thorough understanding of on-site technical operations
  • Financial forecasts and budget preparation and management experience
  • Team player who is highly organized, efficient, able to multi-task and a strong communicator
  • Excellent computer and technical skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to think creatively
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Coordination and teamwork skills
