The Role and What You’ll Do:

The Director of Venue Operations is responsible for the planning and successful execution of UFC live events in various arenas around the globe. This role conducts site surveys to determine arena viability and oversees the coordination of event logistics, working closely with internal stakeholders and external resources to ensure a smooth event from start to finish.

  • Oversee day-to-day venue operation, planning and execution of UFC events ensuring smooth and efficient operation.
  • Coordinate, manage and plan event logistics, including setup, breakdown, and overall event execution with various departments, including production PR, operations, medical, rigging, and security, pertaining to venue.
  • Conducts all necessary site surveys to determine arena viability and confirm requirements for event execution, including venue CAD layout, weight loads for lighting and PA equipment, ingress and egress at loading bays, etc.
  • Collaborates with various departments to optimize venue utilization and enhance the overall event success, both backstage, the floor, and front of house.
  • Interfaces with venue staff and leadership, providing professional guidance to ensure exceptional service delivery by venue.
  • Develops and implements operational policies and procedures to maintain a safe and compliant environment.
  • Liaises with various UFC department leads to understand event and venue needs, including vendors, and contractors, to effectively negotiate and manage initiatives.
  • Monitors and controls operational budgets for stagehands and other venue labor to maximize efficiency on tight deadlines; works closely with UFC Finance to ensure accurate cost reporting upon event completion.
  • Implements and maintains effective crowd management strategies during events based on production equipment complements and production expectations. This includes seat kills, ticket oversight and creative solutions to enhance fan experience while maintaining production initiatives.
  • Serves as the primary in-venue point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, addressing concerns and resolving issues.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends and innovations to continually improve venue operations.

You Have These:

  • 5 years of experience in venue operations or event management, preferably in the sports & entertainment industry.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal abilities to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Effective problem-solving skills to address operational challenges in real-time.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, crowd control, and emergency response procedures.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software for scheduling, budgeting, cost reporting and AutoCad.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
