The Role and What You’ll Do:

This position is responsible for coordinating medical care and licensure for the athletes. This position entails significant interaction with athletes and medical providers to ensure appropriate medical care and proper, timely submission of medical requirements as well as post-fight injury care. 

  • Coordinates all aspects of medical care for athletes, including coordination of efforts with individual service providers and insurance companies.
  • Coordinates all aspects of scheduling of appointments for athletes, provides updates pertaining to injury and licensure requirements.
  • Research medical providers that can provide the necessary treatment/care for the athletes.
  • Facilitate athletes’ medical services by providing insurance information or direct payment to providers.
  • Coordinates with chief medical director regarding athlete treatment and medical clearances to return to sport.
  • Tracking of medical requirements for licensing and follow-up with athletes and managers.
  • Update company database on all athletes’ medical records.
  • Obtains necessary information from athletes and maintains information according to company policy and HIPAA regulations.
  • Researches and identifies appropriate Trauma hospitals in the city of each event in advance of the event.  Contacts EMT services in advance of the event and discusses UFC service requirements, setup, availability, etc.
  • Attends events to coordinate treatment of injured athletes and arrange hospital transport as needed. Alternates events with other team members.
  • At assigned events, meets with the commission doctors and EMTs on the day of event and shadows commission doctors during event.
  • Prepares reports regarding athlete injuries, status of medical conditions and claims information regularly.
  • Routinely follows up with assigned athletes and track injuries.
  • Works with the state’s athletic commission to lift athlete’s medical suspensions.
  • Occasionally arrange travel accommodations for athletes during specialized medical treatments/referrals.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

You Have These:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably with a science background or at least 5 years of work experience in a medical setting.
  • Knowledge and/or education pertaining to medical terminology.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with ICD9 and CPT codes.
  • Experience submitting health insurance claims for health care provider helpful.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidential information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook and ability to learn other basic computer programs.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Bilingual Preferred.
  • Availability to travel domestically and internationally when needed.
