The Role and What You’ll Do:

This position is responsible for capturing a wide variety of content for all media platforms for the Live Production space, from filming multi-day feature shoots in the field with fighters to promotional and specialty shoots, to weekly ENG event shoots in a studio setting and much more. The role is encouraged to go beyond camera operation and to contribute creative ideations and direction, assist in the art/background/look or our standard shoots, and continuously push the envelope on new and innovative approaches to what and how we organize our shoots.

  • Creates high-end visual styles using lighting and camera techniques for high-profile shoots in field and studio settings.
  • Shoots for a wide array of projects, from fighter-based lifestyle and fight-hype features in the field, specialized 1-on-1 interviews with talent/fighter, weekly required fight-hype elements for live events, and assisting in shooting studio-based shows for linear television networks and our own OTT service, UFC Fight Pass.
  • Must be able to scout, schedule and hire freelance 2nd shooters, audio, grip, lighting and any other added needs on feature shoots to complete the job.
  • Must scout locations for fighter feature shoots and potential specialized shoots.
  • Observes sets or locations for potential problems and to determine filming and lighting requirements.
  • Shoots stylized footage for promotional and product spots, show opens, features, trailers, sizzle reels, branded content, and more.
  • Directs lighting design and set-up for shoots of various types and sizes.
  • Potentially be used to shoot Live Events for the live broadcast.
  • Works closely with producers, directors, writers, editors, and other shooters on collaborative projects.
  • Continually learns and stays ahead of the latest in camera and lighting techniques and technology.
  • Provide guidance on what equipment and gear needs exist for feature shoot and other purposes.
  • Works both a regular schedule and must be flexible to work an irregular schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with extensive travel.

You Have These:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ professional experience shooting a wide variety of content for all media platforms, in both field and studio environments.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Must be knowledgeable about the latest cinematography techniques and visual trends.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
  • Must be discreet and trustworthy with access to sensitive information and projects.
  • Documentary filming experience desired.
  • Experience with lighting design and setup desired.
  • Knowledge with ARRI Amira, ARRI Alexa Mini, Sony FS7, RED & other camera technologies desired.  Must be well-versed in shooting at multiple frame rates and speeds.
  • MoVI Pro knowledge, time lapse photography and other motion control systems a plus.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premier and DaVinci Resolve a plus.
  • Experience with working for an agency, post-production company, or broadcast creative team is a plus.
  • Sports cinematography experience a plus.
  • Experience conducting feature-based interviews a plus.
  • Ability to fly and utilize drones a plus.
  • Knowledge of Mixed Martial Arts a plus.
