Proof of the Pudding provides food and beverage services using the freshest produce and ingredients available. Proof of the Pudding offers fine-quality concessions and catering for meetings, exhibit hall booths, conventions, and special events. Georgia International Convention Center includes a 9,800 sq. ft. state-of-the-art culinary arts center and Georgia's largest ballroom at 40,000 sq. ft.
We are seeking an innovative, experienced in large scale, and motivated Pastry Chef to provide our customers with scratch made creative creations. This position will work closely with the Executive Chef to obtain event information, expectations, and details to effectively create desserts, pastries, and bakery items that compliment event menus.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for leading all Pastry and Bakery aspects of the many, often coinciding, events with the Georgia International Convention Center.
  • Execution and innovation of GICC’s pastry department
  • Creating products of highest level of food quality and presentation
  • Capable of producing a consistent product in high volume while adhering to a specific timeframe
  • Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen/food service areas
  • Planning, understanding, and communicating event needs to staff and associates
  • Assist in the development and implementation of creative menu items that adhere to the Proof of the Pudding standard
  • Have understanding and the willingness to work inter-departmentally to streamline events
  • This position will require some travel between venues in the region as needed
Performs other related duties as needed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years in a similar role, or formal training in Pastry Arts
  • Experience in large scale pastry and baking creation – emphasis in from scratch breadmaking is strongly preferred
  • Possess the necessary qualities of self- motivation, desire to learn, and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, demanding, collaborative environment
  • Familiarity with multiple service styles including plated events, buffets, and stations.
  • A passion for providing innovative and creative culinary experiences.
  • Experience executing multiple BEOs simultaneously. 
  • Must live near or be willing to relocate to the College Park, GA area.

  • Capable of producing a consistent product in high volume for multiple service times per day

Work Environment 
This position will work out of the Georgia International Convention Center. The Pastry Chef will be in and out of kitchens and event spaces with shifts having long periods of movement and lifting equipment and/or food product. Events could be indoors, outdoors, or in temporary structures and on varied surfaces.
Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of moving throughout a kitchen and venue, bending, lifting, and reaching.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks; such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 30 lbs.

  • This is a full-time salaried position.
