The Role
The Frederick Flying Cows professional basketball team is seeking an energetic and engaging Mascot Performer to bring our beloved mascot, Milkshake, to life! This fun, high-energy position puts you at the center of the action during games and community events, creating unforgettable experiences for fans of all ages.
As the face of the Frederick Flying Cows brand, the Mascot Performer entertains crowds, interacts with fans, supports in-game promotions, and represents the team at community appearances. The ideal candidate is outgoing, athletic, and enthusiastic — someone who thrives on making people smile and performing in front of an audience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform as Milkshake during all Frederick Flying Cows home games and select community events.
- Engage with fans through fun, interactive, and family-friendly entertainment.
- Work with the Game Operations and Marketing teams to execute in-game promotions, skits, and crowd interactions.
- Represent the team at community events, parades, and sponsor activations.
- Maintain and care for the mascot costume and props.
- Contribute creative ideas for performances and fan engagement.
- Assist with pregame setup, halftime activities, and postgame fan interaction.
- Uphold the team’s commitment to professionalism, inclusivity, and exceptional fan experiences.
Basic Expectations & Requirements
- Prior mascot or performance experience preferred but not required.
- Comfortable performing in a full-body costume for extended periods of time.
- Ability to move with high energy and work in warm conditions.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Able to lift at least 25 pounds and remain physically active throughout events.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Available for all home games (March–May) and select community events throughout the year.
- Must live in or be able to commute daily to Frederick, MD.
Tryout Information
All applicants will be required to participate in a Mascot Tryout to demonstrate energy, creativity, and fan engagement skills.
- Tryouts will include performance-based and improvisational activities.
- Selected candidates will receive full details (date, time, location).
- Please wear athletic clothing and be prepared to perform short, energetic routines.
About the Frederick Flying Cows
The Frederick Flying Cows are a professional basketball organization competing in the United States Basketball League (USBL) — a fast-growing league that provides a platform for talented athletes pursuing their professional basketball careers. The league season runs from March through May, with playoffs in June. The Flying Cows are committed to delivering a top-tier entertainment experience while being a proud, community-focused organization in Frederick County.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a motivated, high-energy performer who loves entertaining crowds and creating memorable experiences. You should be creative, fun-loving, and comfortable being the center of attention — whether dancing on the court, posing for photos, or interacting with kids and families.
We are a well-prepared group with the goal of building a championship-quality organization! We believe there are three (3) key legs of the stool required to build a quality franchise.
- We need to create and manage a high-quality entertainment product that is appealing to a broad age range. We want TBL basketball home games to be a high-quality, fun, and entertaining event that people, both basketball fans and non-basketball fans, will enjoy.
- We need to put together an excellent basketball team and basketball organization. To this end, we are interviewing head coaches now and hope to hire someone by June of this year so that they will have a full year to build and plan a team.
- We need to build a community organization that is invested in Frederick County. Our goal is for TBL basketball, over time, to be part of the fabric of the community and a team that the people of Frederick are proud of.
