This is a position within the Outlyr Internship Program. We are looking for a motivated intern to assist the Volunteer Coordinator and event staff with day-to-day operations of preparing for the Dow Championship to be held June 8 – 14th, 2026. The intern will be working full time assisting with our special event efforts starting in April 2026 (part time if needed until done with school) in our office located in Midland, MI. 

This position offers a unique opportunity to learn event management, on-site logistics and event activation skills to be able to successfully engage with consumers, sports fans and tournament partners.  The right candidate will be able to work as part of a team and will interface with internal divisions, client partners and vendors. Strong team dynamics skills, self-starter, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required for this position. Travel on weekends, evenings and some holiday work will also be required, specifically during Tournament week June 8 – 14th, 2026.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR?
  • You have a passion for and expertise in sports, entertainment, gaming, music and/or celebrity & lifestyle culture
  • Self-starter with “can-do” attitude
  • Experience in a related field preferred
  • Must be available to work full time in Midland, MI office once you are done with school
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team, demonstrate initiative, and solve problems independently
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Internet
  • Extremely organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Interest in sports and event marketing as a career
  • Willingness to work weekends and nonstandard hours particularly during tournament week
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record 

THE WORK YOU’LL DO 
  • Respond to general event inquiries (dates, event schedule, ticket prices etc.)
  • Manage recruitment and coordination of volunteers
  • Manage and coordinate communication with volunteers
  • Assist with implementation of special projects & other partnership extensions in community
  • Assist with all tournament merchandising, volunteer uniforms, pro-am gifts, staff uniforms, etc.
  • Administrative duties
  • Carry out assigned tasks with limited supervision, including coordinating and implementing projects
  • Assist with compiling tournament photo tagging after the tournament
  • Other related duties/projects as assigned
  • Weekend and Holiday work required
