The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) is seeking a Digital Content Specialist. The Specialist will report directly to the Director of Communications and work in a dynamic cross-functional team environment. The Specialist will be responsible for managing the company website, coordinating and publishing graphics, social media posts and edited video to all platforms. The Specialist will work in a fast-paced, ever-changing marketing and communications environment dedicated to developing the brand’s identity and voice via next-level content creation across all mediums including print, television, radio, broadcast and digital. Additional duties include webmaster functions; assisting with public relations and media contacts; assisting with the Legends All-Access Podcast; and designing graphics and content for all platforms. The Specialist will be successful in this position if they are dedicated to innovation, organization, processes, timeliness, accuracy and tracking the content that helps to grow brand awareness. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Create and distribute descriptive copy, images and infographics via NBRPA website, digital social media and/or other outward facing documents/channels. 
  • Proof content for accuracy, quality and keyword density prior to publishing.
  • Maintain content database and style guide so information is consistent across multiple websites and platforms. This includes memberships, partnerships, youth camps/clinics, e-commerce and other areas.  
  • Track and collect reports for all digital engagement and media impressions.
  • Assist in month-end site performance reports (via Google analytics demographics, SEO keyword gains, sales and traffic data and newsletter performance reports).
  • Lead in the creation of compelling digital content including but not limited to website updates, social media posts, social media objects and contests.
  • Manage and coordinate updates to the online content calendar and content themes to prioritize posts, e-communications and updates to audiences and the best times to engage them.
  • Implement digital marketing campaigns, including web, SEO/SEM, email, social media and display advertising. This includes Webmaster functions for the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of media relations and digital communications experience required.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions
  • Design experience to edit photos and create digital graphics.
  • Competency in Adobe After Effects is preferred. 
  • Knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of working for a sports team or league preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills required.
  • Problem solver who knows how to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and managing SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media and/or display advertising campaigns.
  • Must have strong work ethic, results oriented and ability to go above and beyond what is necessary to achieve success.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript development and constraints.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, as needed, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
  • Position is based in Chicago, IL. 
Office: Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
Events: During events, the employee is required to stand for long periods of time, walk long distances, and climb up/down stairs. The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit and must lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
Travel: The employee may be asked to periodically travel and, if so, will be reimbursed for reasonable business-related travel expenses if pre-approved by the Director of Communications and/or SVP of Operations and Events.
