Job Description:
The Manager – Community Engagement & Events for The Nashville Sports Council (“NSC”) and Music City Bowl, Inc. (“MCB”) will be a salaried exempt position that will be supervised and report to the COO/SVP-Events & Operations. We are seeking an energetic, multi-disciplinary individual who can develop and maintain relationships in the community as well as be a detail-oriented planner and manager for executing our events.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and/ or maintain relationships with NSC and MCB community, university and charity partners. This would include networking, participating in partner activities (charity events, speaker panels, student job fairs) and MCB’s participation in the CFP Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers program.
- Oversee request management, tracking, selection and fulfillment of non-profit scholarships and auctions.
- Manage designated NSC and MCB events with responsibilities that include but are not limited to facility coordination and management, event operations, insurance, city services/operations, hospitality events, security, volunteers and transportation.
- Participate as secondary event manager on all other events not designated with you as lead.
- Work closely with the Marketing Department on solicitation and marketing timelines for volunteer needs of assigned events.
- Represent NSC and MCB in the community at events during business hours, nights and weekends as needed.
- Maintain event budgets in designated events and volunteer areas.
- Assist with development and preparation of prospective event bids.
- Assist in other projects assigned by the COO/SVP-Events & Operations and President & CEO.
This position requires availability during key event dates, which will include mid-March (possibly coinciding with Spring Break), the last weekend in April, Labor Day weekend and December 26th through January 15th. Availability at these times on a yearly basis is mandatory. Due to this, the Company offers a generous time-off policy.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in event management and/or community relations; preferably in a sports environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, sports management, hospitality or a related field of study.
- Must have a valid US driver's license.
- Nashville-based relationships and knowledge a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
This position operates primarily in an office environment, as well as outdoors and in stadium facilities. Local travel to events and meetings will be required. This position typically works 40 hours per week.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to remain sitting for up to 8 hours at a desk and computer.
- Must be able to remain standing/walking for up to 8 hours.
- Must be able to climb stairs.
- Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors including adverse weather conditions, such as rain, wind, high and low temperatures.
- Must be able to work in non-traditional settings and non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
