Job Summary
The Fusion Camp Instructor will lead and motivate campers during the STEAM portion of Fusion Camp at the Maryland SoccerPlex and Adventist HealthCare Fieldhouse. Fusion Camp is the afternoon half of our combo program with SAM Soccer Camp, running from 1:00 PM–4:00 PM, Monday–Friday during the summer.

The Instructor will be responsible for conducting engaging STEAM lessons and hands-on activities for a group of up to 15 campers. They will foster a safe, fun, and educational environment where campers can explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and math through interactive projects. The Instructor will also respond to and address incidents, such as behavioral issues or accidents, and communicate with the Programs & Camps Manager, Camp Administrator, parents, and other staff regarding camper progress and concerns.

Responsibilities
  • Lead STEAM-based lessons and activities aligned with the camp’s curriculum.
  • Supervise and engage campers to ensure safety, participation, and fun.
  • Prepare materials, set up classroom activities, and clean up daily.
  • Adapt activities to meet the ages and abilities of campers (8–12 years old).
  • Respond to and document behavioral incidents, accidents, or other concerns.
  • Communicate with parents as needed about camper experiences.
  • Collaborate with other camp staff to ensure smooth transitions and positive experiences.
  • Assist with end-of-day dismissal and general camp supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Previous camp or classroom teaching experience preferred.
  • Curriculum delivery or lesson-planning experience required.
  • Background in science, technology, engineering, arts, or math strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with children aged 8–12.

  • Strong classroom management and leadership skills.
  • Creative, patient, and enthusiastic about STEAM education.
  • Punctual, reliable, and proactive.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to inspire curiosity and fun.

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work weekdays, midday to afternoons.
  • Ability to work indoors and occasionally outdoors in varying climates.
  • Reliable transportation.

Additional Notes
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and proof of COVID vaccination.

Salary
  • Seasonal Position: $20.00–$25.00/hr. based on experience.
