Position Summary:
Skyhawks Sports Academy is seeking outgoing, passionate, and self-motivated Dance and Cheer Coaches for Summer 2024. This coaching position is paired with a Sports Management Internship that can be used for college credit if needed. As a Dance and Cheer Coach, you will play a pivotal role in executing youth dance and cheer camps for kids ages 6-12. You will be responsible for executing all elements of a successful youth dance and cheer camp, including curriculum prep, managing class attendees, demonstrating skills, and serving our end customers. A good dance and cheer coach should be knowledgeable on dance technique, have patience, and be able to communicate effectively with participants. They should also be passionate, supportive, and able to motivate their dancers.  

Responsibilities:

  1. Coaching Youth Dance and Cheer Camps: Actively coach children between the ages of 6-12 years at dance and cheer camps. Execute curated dance and cheer curriculum, provide clear instruction, ensure a safe environment, and inspire a love of the two sports and physical activity.
  2. High-Impact Project: For those who want college credit, there is opportunity to undertake a significant project to improve our business operations. Projects could include creating new business models, enhancing curriculum, advising on process improvements, or identifying ways to enhance customer experiences.

Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in an accredited university
  • 3+ years experience dancing at a studio or high school dance/cheer team involvement
  • Clear understanding of dance vocabulary used in set curriculum 
  • Ability to demonstrate (full out) moves expressed in set curriculum 
  • Passion for Dance/Cheer and coaching children, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills for interacting with clients and participants
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to camp locations throughout the Greater Twin Cities metro area
  • Must have availability to work some evenings and weekends, but scheduling can be accommodated around school commitments
  • Preferred: Prior experience in coaching and/or childcare

Job Type: Coach/Internship
Pay: $15/hr ($16/hr when promoted to Director)
