 Aviator Sports and Events Center Summer Day Camp is currently searching for Certified Climb Wall Instructor for our Seasonal Summer Sports Day Camp program which is located at Gateway National Park, Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, New York.
 Climb Wall Staff: The Climbing Wall staff’s most important duty is the safety of climbers/equipment and belaying our campers. Oversees a friendly, safety-focused, and welcoming environment for climbers to learn and grow. Provides training and guidance to rock wall team members to give them the tools to run high quality, best in class, indoor climbing programs.
 SPECIFIC DUTIES:
  • Creates an educational, safe, inviting and organized rock-climbing experience
  • Belay campers
  • Explains and demonstrates correct usage of climbing equipment and facility features
  • Monitors climbing area to ensure safety procedures are adhered to by climbers
  • An enthusiastic care for children of all ages, patience, good judgment and a good spirit
  • Assists with leading rock-climbing classes to other staff members
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the climbing area
  • Follow Aviator Sports and Camp objectives, rules, policies and guidelines
  • Serve as a positive role model to all campers
  • Must be punctual and organized
  • Communicate with Division Leader when necessary
  • Problem solves through situations and seek assistance with necessary
  • Help to maintain and secure all equipment and supplies of the program
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Maintain an atmosphere of mutual caring, respect, and understanding
  • Handle discipline problems when they occur, and practice positive behavior management

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Degree or Equivalent
  • Ability to occasionally scale climbing wall structure
  • Ability to routinely and repetitively bend to lift more than 50 lbs
  • First Aid certification, Infant/Child and Adult CPR/AED certification required
  •  1 – 2 years of climbing experience
  • Belay certification
  • Ability to work as a team member with other counselors and adult staff members
  • Responsible, friendly, enthusiastic, actively engaged and patient
Hourly Rate : $20 to $32
 The base pay range for this position is a salary range of per hour. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid within the range depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
