ABOUT HCHSA  

In sports, a dynasty is a team or individual that dominates their sport or league for an extended length of time. Over the last 25 years, The Harris County – Houston Sports Authority (HCHSA) has served as the sports marketing agency for the city of Houston and Harris County and has dominated the competition with the hardware to prove it. HCHSA is responsible for bidding on and attracting new sports events to the Houston area, as well as overseeing the marketing and operations of those events. These events include the NCAA Final Fours, NCAA College Football Playoffs, CONCACAF Gold Cup, 2026 FIFA World Cup, MLB and NBA All-Star Games, ITTF World Table Tennis Championships and the annual National Battle of the Bands. POSITION OVERVIEW  
The Harris County – Houston Sports Authority is seeking a well-rounded student looking to excel in the sports industry. Our Events interns have an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience working alongside the Events Team.   

SCOPE OF WORK  
  • Work alongside and assist the Event Operations Manager, Athlete Affairs & Accommodation & Volunteer Manager   
  • Contribute to the planning, organization, and execution of events  
  • Manage and cultivate vendor relationships for supplies and equipment  
  • Assist with event planning and logistics  
  • Assist with travel logistics for athletes and officials for upcoming events  
  • Assist with booking athlete accommodations  
  • Assist with Volunteer recruitment, outreach, and management
  • On-site event support to include, management, set-up, and teardown   
  • Other duties as assigned 
 
EVENT SCHEDULE  
March 5 – 17: 2026 World Baseball Classic 
March 26 – 29: 2026 NCAA Men’s Basketball Regionals
  
QUALIFICATIONS  
  • Eligible candidates must be at least Junior level college/university student or graduate student enrolled as a full-time college/university student and must receive academic credit for this internship.  
  • Applicant must be available for a minimum of 20 hours a week  
  • Valid driver’s license (be prepared to use personal vehicle to travel to and from site all of which will be within Harris County)  
  • During event dates, must be available to work long hours including holidays, weekends, and evenings if necessary  
  • Lift up to 45 pounds repeatedly, work outdoors and stand for long periods of time  
  • Active interest in working in professional sports.  
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite  
 
COMPENSATION  
Unpaid position, not eligible for HCHSA employee benefits; academic credit only

  4. Are you to work in person a minimum of 20 hours a week (Monday - Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
