The Role:
The Frederick Flying Cows professional basketball team is seeking Game Day Bartenders to provide fast, friendly, and responsible beverage service during home games and special events. This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the fan experience in a professional sports environment. Bartenders will serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, maintain bar areas, and ensure a high-quality experience for fans, sponsors, and VIP guests.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in bartending, hospitality, or food and beverage service, with strong customer service skills. We strongly prefer candidates who are either from or currently living in the Frederick area.
This is a paid, part-time, seasonal position that requires a hands-on, customer-focused individual who thrives in fast-paced, high-energy environments. The position requires working all Frederick Flying Cows home games and select events, as directed by the Game Operations team.
THIS IS AN IN-PERSON OPPORTUNITY! Candidates must already reside in the Frederick area and be willing to commute daily or fully relocate to the area.
Who are the Flying Cows?
The Frederick Flying Cows are a professional basketball organization that plays in the United States Basketball League (USBL). The league regular season runs twenty-four (24) games from March – May, with 12 home and 12 away games. Playoffs are in June. The league is positioning itself as an alternative option for players who might be playing in professional leagues overseas and are hoping to build their careers against top-level competition. The USBL play is high quality – just a notch below the NBA G-League. Thus far, the Flying Cows have built a successful on-court product as well as a one-of-a-kind brand off the court.
What you can expect…
We are a small team, meaning staff work cross-functionally and gain experience in multiple areas. Bartenders will focus on beverage service, bar operations, and guest experience management on game days. As a Flying Cows Bartender, you may work on the following, but not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to fans, sponsors, and VIP guests
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient bar area
- Ensure compliance with state and local alcohol regulations and venue policies
- Provide excellent customer service and a professional, energetic presence
- Assist with setup and breakdown of bar areas as needed
Basic Expectations & Requirements:
- Prior bartending or food & beverage experience preferred
- Must be located in the Frederick, MD area
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of alcohol service laws and food safety standards
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
- Must be available for all home games (March–May) and select events
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Reliable, professional, and customer service–oriented
