Position: Event Trainee
Division: Eiger Marketing l Volunteers of America Classic
Reports to: Lexi Wood 
Location: The Colony, TX
Assignment Length: May 17, 2021 – July 15, 2021

This is a position within the Eiger Marketing Trainee Program. We are looking for a motivated Event Trainee to assist the Tournament and event staff with day-to-day operations of preparing for the Volunteers of America Classic to be held June 28 – July 4, 2021. The Event Trainee will be working full time assisting in miscellaneous projects starting in May 2021 in our office located in The Colony, TX.
This position offers a unique opportunity to learn event management, on-site logistics and event activation/marketing skills to be able to successfully engage with consumers, sports fans and tournament partners.  The right candidate will be able to work as part of a team and will interface with internal divisions, client partners and vendors. Strong team dynamics skills, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required for this position. Travel on weekends, evenings and some holiday work may also be required, specifically during Tournament week June 28-July 4.
  • 0-1+ year of internship/work experience
  • Must be available to work full time starting in May 2021 in our office at The Golf Clubs at The Tribute in The Colony, TX
  • Polished communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team, demonstrate initiative, and solve problems independently
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet
  • Extremely organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Self-starter who is eager to gain hands-on event experience
  • Interest in sports marketing and event management as a career preferred
  • Willingness to work some weekends and nonstandard hours 
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (typically greater than 25lbs)
  • Work closely with tournament staff in executing on-site special events such as the Junior Programing, 5K/10K, Community Concert and Sponsor Activations
  • Support Tournament staff with contract execution and ticket fulfillment
  • Assist the volunteer coordinator in pre-planning and uniform distribution
  • Aid in the execution of the tournament’s marketing plan including social media, grassroots, press releases, local media partnerships, etc. 
  • Carry out assigned tasks with limited supervision, including coordinating, and implementing projects
  • Other related duties/projects as reasonably assigned for the implementation and wrap up of a professional sporting event
  • Weekend and Holiday work required
