Location:  Indianapolis, IN – Local candidates preferred; however, remote work may be considered for highly qualified applicants.

Role responsibilities: The Content Marketing Specialist is responsible for supporting Drum Corps International’s digital publishing and social media efforts. This position reports directly to the DCI Director of Communications and works in collaboration with other members of DCI’s marketing/communications department to develop creative, strategic, and engaging content for use on Drum Corps International’s website and social media platforms.   

This position reports directly to the Director, Communications.

Specific tasks include:
●       Write, curate and compile engaging content for the Drum Corps International website and social media platforms.
●       Research, pitch, and produce compelling feature stories and news updates that highlight the performers, educators, alumni and fans within the DCI community to keep the editorial calendar full year-round.
●       Organize and execute daily social media schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
●       Upload, format and publish content across marketing/communications channels (e.g. website, social media, email, etc.) including the creation of graphics and video elements as needed.
●       Proofread and edit content to ensure accuracy and consistency with brand messaging.
●       Track and analyze social media engagement and analytics to inform ongoing content marketing strategies and messaging.
●       Stay on top of the latest trends in social media and digital publishing.
●       Develop and execute various digital marketing campaigns.
●       Assist as needed with event-related communication needs including public address scripting and some media relations functions.
●       Other tasks as assigned.
 
Required Skills/Qualifications:
●       Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field, or 2-3 years of relevant experience in content creation and content management.
●       Strong written communication skills and the ability to conduct interviews with individuals from all levels of the organization.
●       Ability to write compelling headlines, short news blurbs, feature-length articles, social media posts and customer service responses in a variety of styles and formats.
●       Proficiency in managing social media platforms with an emphasis on business functionality.
●       Experience in community management and the ability to maintain a professional brand voice during high-traffic or sensitive situations.
●       Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, able to meet tight deadlines and shift priorities whenever necessary.
●       Ability to work independently with minimal direction as well as in team settings.
●       Passion for advancing the mission of Drum Corps International. Previous marching music experience is a plus.
●       Proficiency in AP Style and a meticulous eye for grammar and factual accuracy.
●       Competent with core Adobe Creative Suite and Google Workspace applications.
●       Experience with WordPress or similar CMS platforms and basic HTML coding.
●       Basic graphic design, photo and video editing skills. 
●       Ability to capture high-quality “run-and-gun” style smartphone video and photography for real-time storytelling in and around events. Additional experience with DSLR/mirrorless cameras is a plus.
●       Ability to travel extensively on the DCI Summer Tour and work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to provide real-time coverage and support during the peak event season.

●       Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision; distance vision; peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
