About the Position
SpeedLab is an innovative sports performance and athletic development program, dedicated to serving the modern youth athlete more effectively than traditional models. SpeedLab operates within COPA STC and is focused on teaching the foundational movement skills, strength qualities, speed mechanics, and physical capacities required for athletes of all sports to improve confidence, durability, and on-field performance.
SpeedLab coaches use innovative technologies and cutting-edge sports science to create a high-intent training environment that allows coaches to think critically, individualize training, and continuously develop their coaching craft. Coaches will work within the SpeedLab methodology and curriculum to deliver evidence-informed private and small-group sports performance training sessions to athletes ages 9–19.
The Youth Performance Coach will be required to develop working proficiency with the following performance assessment and monitoring technologies:
- SpeedTrack laser timing gates
- SpeedCourt agility testing
- VALD ForceDecks
- Output Sports velocity-based training & athlete monitoring
The Youth Performance Coach role at SpeedLab is a part-time position. We are seeking individuals with a passion for youth sports performance, movement coaching, and long-term athlete development who want to leverage a state-of-the-art facility to deliver one-of-a-kind training sessions. The role requires 3–5 days of availability per week and offers competitive compensation, on-site education, free facility access, and a collaborative environment with like-minded coaches.
Role Details
- 10–20 hours per week
- Primary responsibility is leading small-group and team-based sports performance training sessions
- Additional weekly responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Performance assessments
- Talent identification support
- Camps and clinics
- Video and movement analysis
- Team and small-group training delivery
Schedule & Availability
- 3–5 days within the following timeframes:
- Monday–Friday: 3:00pm–8:30pm
- Saturday–Sunday: 9:00am–3:00pm
Key Responsibilities & Objectives
- Deliver SpeedLab sports performance training sessions to athletes ages 9–19
- Coach and engage with developing athletes across multiple sports on a daily basis
- Create a safe, welcoming, and high-energy, technology-supported performance environment
- Support athlete assessments and contribute to ongoing performance tracking
- Participate in staff development, coach education, and outreach initiatives

Requirements
- Experience coaching youth athletes in a performance, strength & conditioning, or athletic development setting
- Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field (or currently enrolled)
- CSCS, XPS, or other relevant strength & conditioning / sports performance certification
- Ability to perform physical job demands including demonstrating exercises, moving equipment, lifting up to 45 pounds, and prolonged standing/walking
- Willingness and ability to learn and utilize performance technology and data systems integral to the SpeedLab curriculum
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Solution-oriented mindset, particularly in athlete and parent-facing situations
