Job Title: Social Media Marketing and Merchandise Manager

Job Summary: The Social Media Marketing and Merchandise Manager will be tasked with maintaining and growing Ignite Sports and Entertainment brands. This will include the Columbus River Dragons Hockey, Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots Baseball teams, and events held at Columbus’s Golden Park through social media presence, in-person and online marketing via direct email and telecommunications, event-based marketing, and company websites. This position is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the online merchandise stores for all brands and development of new products.
Responsibilities and Duties: 
  • Maintain, grow, and execute all aspects of social media, branding and marketing for the Ignite Sports and Entertainment brands, increasing web traffic and customer engagement metrics aligned with our broader marketing strategy
  • Develop an optimal posting schedule and overarching calendar of all content, considering web traffic and customer engagement metrics while overseeing the layout of all social media accounts and suggest new ways to attract prospective customers, such as promotions and competitions
  • Research applicable current marketing and social media trends and tools to grow Ignite Sports and Entertainment’s media presence, post content on all relevant platforms for relevant brands and encourage audience engagement
  • Stay up to date with changes in all social media platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness
  • Plan out media messaging, direct messaging, while developing relevant topics, setting content guidelines, and managing all content, with the aid of other staff members and players in the organizations, where needed
  • Create engaging text, images, and video content to be shared on social media and direct email and telecommunications platforms, as well as text blasts to customers and fans
  • Design and curate creative content to sustain curiosity and create buzz around teams, products, and events
  • Regularly monitor, interact, and respond to any messages, inquiries or comments that need attention through social media with professionalism and positivity
  • Report any issues or online information or reviews and feedback to leadership, where necessary
  • Define all important social media and marketing KPIs and deliver weekly reports to leadership while providing feedback and direction on needs and next steps
  • Attend in-person events, when and where needed, and create live social media content to drive engagement
  • Maintain unified brand voice across different social media channels
  • Supervise and oversee all aspects of the team merchandise through online and in-person sales in the office, the pro shop and souvenir stands on game nights, including online store sales of merchandise and fulfillment
  • Track and prepare weekly inventory and sales reports to be delivered to leadership for a weekly business report
  • Pull work orders daily for online sales and finalize all transactions, as well as fulfilling, packing, and shipping of all ordered items
  • Generate new ideas for products and designs for team and branded merchandise 
  • Responsible for general appearance of souvenir stands and any area selling merchandise
  • Contribute to all company aspects on an “as needed” basis

  • Proven work experience as a Social Media Coordinator or similar role is a plus
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Expertise in multiple social media platforms
  • In-depth knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics
  • Ability to deliver creative content (text, image, and video)
  • Knowledge of online marketing strategies and marketing channels
  • Familiarity with web design and publishing is a plus
  • Ability to gasp future trends in digital technologies and act proactively
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and time management skills
  • Organizational, multitasking, and analytical skills are a necessity 
  • Attendance on nights and weekends, and possibly holidays, based on games scheduled is required
  • BS degree in Marketing, Media, or relevant field
