Mechanical Systems Manager

Position Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Mechanical Systems Manager to join our team. The Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing chillers and related mechanical systems. This includes performing preventive maintenance on chillers, valves, pumps, compressors, and other HVAC and refrigeration equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, solid troubleshooting skills, and a basic understanding of refrigeration principles. Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair chillers (indoor and outdoor) and refrigeration systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues
- Perform preventive maintenance on chillers, cooling towers, motors, pumps, valves, and heat exchangers
- Inspect and test components to ensure proper operation
- Diagnose and repair issues related to air flow, refrigerant levels, and system inefficiencies
- Calibrate and adjust controls and system components for optimal performance
- Replace or rebuild faulty components, including compressors and motors
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Follow all safety protocols and comply with industry regulations
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation
- Provide technical support and customer service as needed
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical problems
- Experience working with electrical and electronic components
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals and schematics
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs safely
- Understanding of safety protocols and procedures in mechanical work environments
Mechanical Qualifications:
Experience working with the following is preferred:
- Chillers (indoor/outdoor)
- Compressors – installation and rebuilding
- Cooling towers
- Motors and pumps
- Heat exchangers
- HVAC and dehumidifiers
- Boilers
- General mechanical maintenance and repair
Personal Traits:
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement
Preferred Experience & Certifications:
- EPA Certification (Type I, II, or Universal)
- Experience working with refrigerants including Ammonia and Freon
- Plumbing and/or welding experience a plus
- Vocational training or technical certification in HVAC/R or mechanical systems
Work Conditions:
- May involve working in indoor and outdoor environments
- Regular exposure to mechanical noise, heat, and cold
- May involve travel between sites depending on company needs
- Must be available for on-call rotation or emergency repairs if required
