About the Role

The Assistant Regional Director will assist the Regional Director in overseeing multiple Arenas. The career path
is to eventually grow into a Regional Director role.

Reports to Regional Director of Operations, Ice Arenas, as assigned. Must be willing to relocate initially and as
opportunities arise
. Initial primary markets preferred include Western PA, Central PA, NJ/Philly, Michigan.

The Assistant Regional Director will assist the Regional Director in the following areas:
  • Ensure all arenas are Clean, Safe, and Fully Staffed. Responsible for timely AR, P&L/Budget Adherence, Ice Schedules, and achievement of all KPIs:
  • Programming #s, Revenue (includes but not limited to: LTS, LTPH, Contract Ice, Club Teams, Tenant Rent, Public Skating, Adult Hockey)

Rink Management Operations
  •  Work closely with rinks GMs and oversee day-to-day operations of rinks. Conduct weekly and as needed calls.
    - Lead/train operations staff including hiring GM’s and other salaried positions. Assist with personnel issues that can’t be handled by the GM.
    - Focus on current issues, new systems implementation, programming, cost savings and operating efficiencies.
    - Review weekly schedules to ensure proper staffing. (not under or overstaffed).
  • Assist with problem rinks & issues as they arise: always on call for rink phone calls.
  • Review weekly dashboards, revenue opportunities and year-over-year growth.
  • Responsible for development of revenue and expense budgets for rink P&L’s; review P&L's vs. budget monthly with key personnel to ensure we meet budget and research variances.
  • Point of contact for major ice rental customers and rink lessees, as needed
  • Oversee ice rental contracts where GM requires assistance/guidance.
  • Leagues/Tournaments: Ensure that all ice commitment needs are programmed efficiently and profitably and are properly executed.
  • Review, standardize and optimize systems (POS, Website, Staff Scheduling, GM and HD compliance/relationship, cleaning, opening and closing procedures, program content, player and coach philosophy, pricing, etc.).
  • Train all regional and facility level personnel on Safehold insurance recommendations appropriate safety, cleaning and other rink management protocols; monitor compliance.
  • Review Ice Grid and Calendar regularly to ensure programming is always scheduled properly.
  • Regularly conduct arena walkthroughs with GM and FM. Monthly at a minimum.

Facility Infrastructure
  • Ensure compliance with purchase order policy for the region.
  • Collaborate with Facilities staff to ensure facilities are bright, clean, safe and in compliance with all Safehold insurance suggestions.
  • Weekly meetings to discuss current and future projects, CapEx, R&M, Ice Maintenance, Walk Throughs, etc.

Accounting
  • Responsible for approving all invoices bi-weekly, tracking payments for projects, payroll approval, etc.
  • Weekly communication for outstanding A/R.
  • Ensuring we make our payments on time at the facility level.
  • Proper approvals for quotes, payments, credit card procedures, etc.

Marketing
  • Weekly or bi-weekly calls with GM, Program Manager, Director of Youth Hockey and Marketing Manager.
    - Discuss areas of opportunity for revenue, programming, marketing, etc.
  • Review arena compliance for all necessary marketing signage, literature, TVs, etc.
    - Review Marketing Plan with your team.
    - Marketing and Promotion via flyers, website & social media

Human Resources
  • Ensure compliance with all payroll paperwork, pay rates, etc.
  • Assist in any HR related issues brought to your attention.
    - Safesport, Workers Compensation, Employee Separations, policies and procedures.
    - Timely submittals for all paperwork and notifications for any injuries, works compensation and customer issues.

Corporate Initiatives
  • Assist the Regional Director with miscellaneous corporate driven tasks and initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Ice Arena Knowledge: A basic understanding of ice arenas from a participant point of view.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or a related field. 
  • Experience: Proven experience in operations management, with a strong track record of success in a similar role. Eager to learn and continue professional development
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams. 
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions. 
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of financial principles and budgeting practices. 
  • Compliance & Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant local, state, and federal regulations. 

Other Considerations:
  • Travel: Regional travel is required.
  • Ability to work remotely.
  • Must be willing to relocate initially and as opportunities arise. Initial primary markets preferred include Western PA, Central PA, NJ/Philly, Michigan.

Additional Experience, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of facility scheduling software preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting software is preferred.
