About Us: Big State Sports is a media company specializing in live broadcasts of high school athletics in New Jersey. We strive to shine a light on all of the great things happening in New Jersey high school sports, and pride ourselves on providing positive coverage of athletes and communities. From Friday night football, to middle of the week track meets and everything in between, we'll broadcast it live, and free to view on our YouTube channel.
The Position: We are seeking experienced live broadcast producers to lead small crews for our continuously expanding coverage of high school sports across New Jersey. While we cover every varsity sport, the most opportunities will be available for football broadcasts during the fall season. However, if you're interested in producing other sports as well, we encourage you to still apply. We are always looking for organized, driven, and adaptable leaders to help run our broadcasts.
Though our offices are in Randolph, NJ, we are looking for talent all over the state as our coverage spans the entirety of New Jersey. This would be a freelance job, and if hired we would try to give you around a week's notice before any assignments.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage small broadcast crews (typically 3–4 people) on-site at various high schools/venues/events.
- Head off setup, operation, and breakdown of provided production equipment.
- Run live broadcast elements including replays, sponsor graphics, and scoreboard updates.
- Communicate between camera operators and commentators to keep operations smooth and organized.
- Troubleshoot technical issues in real time, when necessary. Including basic Windows 11 laptop and OBS-related problems.
- Maintain broadcast standards and workflow under live-event conditions.
We’re looking for individuals with experience in live sports production who can confidently run a basic broadcast from setup through closing in a variety of conditions. The ideal candidate is organized, technically capable, and comfortable making quick decisions in a fast-paced environment. They should be able to stay composed under pressure, work well with a small crew, and take pride in delivering a clean, reliable broadcast.
