Athletx Sports Group is seeking organized and dependable Tournament Directors to support on-site game operations during the Youth World Series tournament. This is a temporary, event-specific role from June 16-21, 2026, based in Chicagoland, IL. Successful candidates will play a vital part in ensuring games run smoothly, participants have a positive experience, and the event's high standards are maintained.

Tournament Directors will oversee daily game operations across assigned fields, manage event logistics, handle score reporting, and serve as the primary point of contact for coaches and umpires. This position requires strong communication skills, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to work efficiently in a fast-paced tournament environment.

Compensation: $220/day

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown, including unloading equipment, setting up field windscreens, feather flags, and other signage.
  • Manage 2–4 fields daily, ensuring all scheduled games operate efficiently and professionally.
  • Conduct coin flips before pool play games to determine home and away teams.
  • Ensure umpires have sufficient game balls before each game.
  • Monitor game flow and assist with maintaining schedule integrity.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for coaches and umpires regarding rule questions or concerns, communicating interpretations clearly and professionally.
  • Ensure all teams, umpires, and spectators adhere to tournament and facility rules.
  • Support coaches' meetings, skills competitions, and home run derby on the first day.
  • Coordinate championship games and conduct professional awards presentations.
  • Submit all game results to the Event Director for bracket updates and record keeping.
  • Arrive on time, check in and out with the Event Director daily.

Qualifications
  • Reliable transportation to the tournament venue.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of baseball rules preferred.
  • Previous experience in sports events, coaching, officiating, or tournament operations is preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks related to event setup/breakdown (e.g., lifting up to 30 lbs).

Schedule Expectations
  • Ability to work 6 consecutive days, approximately 10–14 hours per day, from June 16-21, 2026.
  • Must be available for and commit to the full duration of the event once scheduled.
  • Shifts may include early mornings, nights, and weekends.
  • Staff are expected to remain through assigned setup and breakdown responsibilities.

About the Youth World Series
The Youth World Series is a premier national tournament for D2 (Lower AAA, AA) and D3 (A) level travel baseball teams. It brings together teams ages 9U–16U from across the country for a five-day championship experience at top family vacation destinations. Teams compete in a true national championship atmosphere featuring skills competitions, 5–9 guaranteed games, and a unique double-sided bracket format with Gold and Silver divisions, all played at elite baseball facilities near major attractions such as water parks, thrill parks, and beaches.

About This Tournament: Youth World Series – Chicagoland
This specific tournament will take place from Tuesday, June 16, through Sunday, June 21, at Wintrust Crossroads Sports Complex in New Lenox, IL. The event begins with a coaches’ meeting, skills competition, and home run derby on Tuesday. Pool play will run all day Wednesday and Thursday, followed by bracket play and championship games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
