Position: Community Engagement Manager
- Salaried position stationed in Wooster.
- Full-time, 40 hours minimum, which includes some evening and weekends.
- Frequent local and some out of state travel is required.
Job Description:
Under the direction and supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the Community Engagement Manager is responsible for the following duties:
- Provide ancillary support to the CEO when requested to cultivate positive relationships with community partners.
- Provide goal setting and strategic input with respect to community engagement.
- Oversee assigned special events, demonstrations, clinics, public speaking engagements, and exhibitions in a variety of settings.
- Manage, implement, and conduct Adaptive Sports Ohio’s monthly Rookie Series webinars.
- Outreach to agencies and organizations serving individuals with physical and visual disabilities to conduct presentations (in-person and virtually) and recruit participants.
- Establish, maintain, and cultivate personal relationships with collegiate partners for the purpose of increasing the visibility of Adaptive Sports Ohio, educating the potential workforce on adaptive sports, and identifying potential fundraising partners.
- Conduct adaptive sport physical education class takeover days and assemblies in partner school districts.
- Collaborate when needed with other program directors including, but not limited to, Equipment, Community-Based, Everyone Plays, Interscholastic, and Competition Directors.
- Perform outreach to recruit potential athletes for programs. Including presentations, site visits, and community events.
- Communicate directly with coaches, volunteers, athletes and/or parents of minor athletes.
- Oversee and enforce Adaptive Sports Ohio’s policies and procedures.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Sports Management or related field.
- 1 – 3 years of professional experience.
- Working knowledge of legal, regulatory, and risk management issues related to athletic programs.
- Willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule, which may include longer than normal hours, working weekends or evenings.
- Valid driver’s license, with the ability to drive a 15-passenger van or a 13-passenger mini-bus (no CDL required) and also be able to haul a 6x12 and 6x14 trailer.
- Current special certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED or willing to obtain.
- Strong professional, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Detail oriented with strong professional, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel and Access.
- Proficient in Google Drive, Docs and Spreadsheets.
- Ability to work autonomously or in a team setting in accordance with established policies and regulations.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and manage equipment and supplies.
- Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Sports Management, Therapeutic Recreation, Physical Education or a related field.
- Background in adaptive sports, completion of Certified Adaptive Recreation and Sports Specialist (CARSS) training (certification can be completed in the first year of employment).
- 3 – 5 years of professional experience.
- 3 – 5 years of experience supervising/managing staff.
- Coaching experience in one or more sports.
- Strong initiative and creative problem solving.
- Public speaking experience.
