Skyhawks Sports Academy is a national youth sports company committed to teaching children ages 2-12 life skills through sports with a focus on safety, improving sport skills and most importantly having FUN! We offer more than a dozen different sport options and have been implementing sport programs across the United States since 1979. Skyhawks is new to Milwaukee and we are looking to grow into local communities. We offer you the opportunity to work directly with the Area Manager and Area Coordinators, create a customized learning experience, and gain practical hands-on experience in the sports industry. You will be introduced to individuals within the community recreation industry and will learn about different facets of managing a sports camp business.

We are looking for outgoing, passionate and self-motivated students who enjoy sports, business and making an impact on kids. A great experience for sports management, recreation, and business majors. Must be able to work independently and add value to an organization. Prefer students who are taking an internship for school credit. Internships will last three months and will be paid.
What are some of the components of the internship you ask?
Sports Programming and Coaching – Everything we do is to prepare for our sports programs; from after school sports to summer camps. We implement hundreds of programs each year in Milwaukee and you will work directly with children ages 2-12 in a variety of sports and environments. Interns will assist in the implementation of our sport-specific curriculum while ensuring the utmost safety for our participants and staff.
Customer Service – Our business is based on relationships. We will teach you how to effectively communicate, influence and interact with all types of customers, vendors, co-workers, and kids. From problem-solving to conflict management you will learn how to confidently communicate with a wide array of individuals in the sport industry.

Staff Management - Interns will effectively manage and communicate with their staff to make sure camps are staffed and equipped.

Inventory Management and Control – Proper equipment is essential when carrying out Skyhawks curriculum. You will learn to efficiently pick up and drop off equipment amongst Skyhawks coaches and Area Managers.

Group Project – Interns will have the opportunity to sign up for a group project within the field they’re most interested in. Groups will meet regularly to discuss their project. Project work will be completed throughout the internship, and presented to company owners at the end of the internship. Interns must complete the  project to receive internship credit.
