Position Overview
The Ice Facilities Engineer is responsible for maintaining optimal operation of ice-making systems and related equipment across all FEG-operated facilities, including Lee's Family Forum (LFF), City National Arena (CNA), America First Center (AFC), and Hylo Park Arena. This role ensures the highest standards of ice quality, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency while collaborating closely with Facility Directors and Operations Managers.

Primary Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Operations:
  • Conduct weekly inspections and preventive maintenance of ice-making equipment at all operated facilities
  • Maintain and optimize all Cimco Eco-Chill Ice Plants (four currently in operation)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly to minimize facility downtime
  • Monitor plant performance metrics and recommend system improvements
Scheduling & Coordination:
  • Develop and manage weekly maintenance schedules across all facilities
  • Coordinate service activities with Facility Directors and Operations Managers to minimize operational impact
  • Prioritize emergency repairs and routine maintenance effectively
Training & Development:
  • Train operations staff on ice plant maintenance best practices and safety protocols
  • Develop and deliver ongoing educational programs for Operations Linemates
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures and maintenance documentation
Vendor & Inventory Management:
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with critical equipment vendors and service providers
  • Develop and implement inventory management systems for spare parts and supplies
  • Establish minimum stock levels and reorder protocols to ensure parts availability
  • Negotiate service agreements and manage vendor performance
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field; OR
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in ice plant operations, commercial refrigeration, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years in a management or supervisory capacity
Certifications & Licenses:
  • Current HVAC certification
  • Commercial Refrigeration certification
  • Ice-making system certification
  • Valid state-issued driver's license
  • EPA Universal certification (preferred)
Technical Skills:
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on Zamboni or Olympia ice resurfacer operation
  • Proficiency with Cimco Eco-Chill systems or similar ice plant technology
  • Understanding of ammonia or glycol refrigeration systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and manuals

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
Environmental Conditions:
  • Frequent exposure to cold temperatures (ice rink environment)
  • Occasional exposure to temperature fluctuations and wet conditions
  • Work in mechanical rooms with moderate to loud noise levels
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity for working with tools and equipment
Travel Requirements
  • Daily/weekly travel required between FEG facilities in the Las Vegas area
  • Occasional travel for vendor meetings, training, or emergency repairs
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license
