JOB SUMMARY:

Utah Mammoth is looking for a School Programs Coordinator to join their Youth Team. Working under the direction of the Youth Programs Director, this position will be responsible for bringing the excitement of the Utah Mammoth into classrooms and gymnasiums across the state. As the School Programs Coordinator, this individual will oversee three signature initiatives: our high-energy PE Takeover, immersive STEM on Ice field trips, and inspiring school assemblies. This role blends teaching expertise, program management, and a love for the game to create unforgettable experiences for students.

Must be comfortable working on multiple projects at once, working in a team setting, willing to receive feedback, and arrives prepared with ideas for execution.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Program Leadership & Delivery

  • PE Takeover Program: Coordinate and lead in-school hockey-themed physical education sessions, introducing students to basic skills, teamwork, and the spirit of the sport.
  • STEM on Ice Field Trips: Design and manage a field trip program at the South Town rink, integrating STEM concepts like physics of skating, ice maintenance, and sports technology.
  • School Assemblies: Organize and present engaging assemblies featuring hockey professionals, interactive demonstrations, and character-building lessons rooted in the sport.

Staff Management

  • Supervise and schedule a team of part-time coaches.
  • Provide training on program content, safety protocols, and student engagement strategies.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture among staff.

School & Community Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with school administrators, PE teachers, and community partners.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for scheduling, feedback, and program customization.
  • Promote hockey as a tool for education, inclusion, and physical activity.

Operations & Administration

  • Manage program logistics, equipment inventory (e.g., sticks, balls, gear), and transportation.
  • Track participation data, feedback, and outcomes to inform program improvements.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for league stakeholders and sponsors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, or related field.
  • 2+ years of teaching or youth program experience.
  • Experience managing part-time or seasonal staff.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Passion for hockey and youth development.
  • Ability to travel locally to schools and rinks.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must possess a valid Utah driver's license.  
  • Must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) screening in accordance with company policy and insurance requirements.

Preferred Skills

  • Valid teaching certificate.
  • Background in hockey coaching, officiating, or playing.
  • Experience in STEM education or curriculum development.
  • Public speaking and group facilitation skills.
  • Bilingual (a plus).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to communicate and express yourself both written and verbally.
  • Must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
