Each season, the Sioux Falls Stampede delivers one of the premier fan experiences in junior hockey while making a meaningful impact throughout the Sioux Falls community. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain experience in game presentation, event operations, community relations, sponsorship fulfillment, and leadership within a championship-caliber organization.

About the Sioux Falls Stampede
The Sioux Falls Stampede is a Tier I junior hockey team based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, that competes in the United States Hockey League (USHL). The Stampede has won the USHL Organization of the Year Award six times and most recently captured its fourth Clark Cup Championship during the 2025-26 season. Playing at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, the Stampede consistently rank among the nation's leaders in attendance across junior, collegiate, and semi-professional hockey. More than 40 former Stampede players have gone on to play in the NHL.

Position Overview
The Game Presentation & Community Engagement Associate is a paid internship that combines office, event operations, and community relations responsibilities. This individual will work approximately 30 hours per week in the Stampede front office, in addition to all 30 home games.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, creative, dependable, and eager to gain real-world experience in the sports industry. This position offers significant responsibility, as well as leadership opportunities. This person will work directly with the Game Presentation Coordinator and the Director of Game Presentation.

Duration: Late August 2026 through April/May 2027
 
Office & Game Presentation Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and executing all game presentation elements and promotions
  • Develop promotions from concept to implementation
  • Create game-day timing sheets, staffing schedules, and music scripts
  • Produce and organize video board content using Adobe Photoshop and other creative software
  • Coordinate promotional elements and sponsorship activations in advance of games
  • Manage and schedule game-night staff and interns
  • Invoice corporate partners and assist with CRM management and record keeping
  • Support ticket sales initiatives, including commission-based sales opportunities
  • Assist with additional organizational projects and departmental needs as assigned

Community Engagement Responsibilities
  • Help coordinate communication with schools, nonprofit organizations, and community groups
  • Help organize player appearances, volunteer opportunities, and community outreach initiatives
  • Develop and maintain a season-long community engagement calendar
  • Track and report player community service participation and volunteer hours
  • Supervise and assist with community events involving players and team personnel

Game Day Responsibilities
  • Help supervise the game-night promotions staff
  • Execute all on-ice and in-game promotions
  • Oversee sponsorship activations and partner fulfillment
  • Coordinate setup and teardown of game presentation and promotional elements
  • Ensure a first-class fan experience throughout every home game
  • Serve as a key member of the game operations team on event days

Qualifications
  • Current college student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in sports management, marketing, communications, business, event management, or a related field
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the game schedule, as well as daily office hours.
  • Adobe Photoshop experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
