The Lincoln Stars are seeking a passionate and dynamic USHL Broadcaster & Media Relations Manager to become the voice and content leader of our organization. This role extends far beyond traditional play-by-play—it’s about building the Lincoln Stars brand year-round through storytelling, content creation, strategic media outreach, and monetizing media assets. You'll be at the intersection of broadcasting, content marketing, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Broadcast & Game Coverage (30%)
- Serve as the voice of the Lincoln Stars for all home and away games (pre-season through playoffs)
- Manage the technical setup and execution of all broadcasts
- Produce full game-day broadcast content, including pre-game, intermission, and post-game segments
Content Creation & Branding (20%)
- Develop and manage the Lincoln Stars Media Channel, including a weekly show, player features, and branded content
- Create engaging, interactive content: behind-the-scenes videos, Q&As, live events, and short-form video segments
- Work directly with the General Manager and Director of Marketing on all player transactions and information as needed
Media & Community Relations (20%)
- Serve as a liaison between players, coaches, front office, and the community
- Maintain and evolve a comprehensive Lincoln Stars media kit
- Actively support and participate in community events and player appearances
- Build relationships with local and national media, bloggers, podcast hosts, and influencers
- Pitch and coordinate interviews, features, and media stories to secure offseason coverage
- Manage all media correspondence for hockey, ancillary events, and news related to the Ice Box
Marketing & Sponsorship Integration (20%)
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to identify and secure sponsorships tied to podcasts, social media segments, and video content
- Take direct ownership of developing and executing sponsorship opportunities across all media platforms, including branded content, interviews, live broadcasts, and digital segments
- Partner with the Director of Marketing to grow the team’s digital footprint across Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and Threads.
Offseason & Event Support (10%)
- Remain active and available for key offseason events, including the USHL Draft, NHL Draft, and Team Camps.
- Support additional company events such as concerts, tournaments, and other sporting events at the venue.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in media relations, brand marketing, or communications — preferably in sports, entertainment, or fast-paced environments
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects, proactively identify opportunities, and evolve materials (like media kits) to meet shifting organizational needs
- Strong storytelling and copywriting skills, with the ability to translate complex or evolving brand narratives into compelling, media-friendly content
- Comfortable shifting direction quickly and adjusting priorities in response to feedback, emerging trends, or strategic pivots
- Self-starter with a growth mindset — willing to test ideas, learn from failure, and take initiative to grow their role or expand impact beyond core responsibilities
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to align with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, ticketing, hockey operations) to reflect the full scope of the Lincoln Stars brand
- Passion for sports, entertainment, and community-driven storytelling
Preferred Tools & Skills
- Proficiency in creative tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva; familiarity with digital asset management tools
- Experience with podcasting and video editing platforms.
- Familiarity with analytics tools such as Meta Business Suite, X Pro, and Google Analytics.
