Position Summary:
The Des Moines Buccaneers are seeking a dedicated, organized, and detail-oriented Equipment Manager to oversee all aspects of the team’s equipment operations. This position plays a vital role in the day-to-day support of players and staff, ensuring all equipment needs are met to the highest professional standards. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and committed to maintaining a first-class environment for player performance and safety.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the setup and teardown of locker room and bench areas for all practices and games (home and away).
  • Maintain, repair, and prepare all player and goalie equipment, including sharpening skates and managing laundry.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of locker room, equipment areas, and laundry facilities.
  • Order, track, and inventory all equipment, apparel, and supplies in coordination with team staff and vendors.
  • Coordinate team travel equipment logistics, including packing, loading, and transportation of gear.
  • Oversee the preparation and distribution of game jerseys and practice gear.
  • Work closely with players and coaching staff to meet individual equipment needs and preferences.
  • Ensure compliance with USHL regulations regarding equipment and branding.
  • Supervise game-day operations including bench setup, pre-game readiness, and in-game repairs.
  • Establish and enforce proper protocols for equipment hygiene and safety.
  • Support team culture with professionalism, integrity, and a team-first mentality.
 
Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a hockey equipment management role (junior, collegiate, or professional level preferred).
  • Strong skate sharpening and equipment repair skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Familiarity with USHL or similar league operations is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
