Job Title: Coordinator, Fan Experience
Reports to: Manager, Brand Marketing - Chicago Steel
Location: Fox Valley Ice Arena (In-Office) and the United Center (In-Office, anticipated May 2026)
Hours: Standard business are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm / Mon – Fri. This position will require occasional evening, weekend, and holiday availability as required by the game or event schedule.
Status: Full-time Exempt
# Direct Reports: This position will have no direct reports, however, they will assist with managing part-time fan events staff.
Compensation: This role is budgeted to receive an annual salary of $40,000.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This position is 100% in-person. For the 2025-2026 season, this role will be located at the Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva, IL. Following the end of the season (approximately May 2026), the Chicago Steel will relocate to a new home in downtown Chicago, IL and the club's offices will be based out of the United Center. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to both the Geneva and Chicago offices as required before, during, and after the transition.

The Top Shelf:
The Chicago Steel are looking for a Coordinator, Fan Experience who will plan and execute the team’s game experience, overseeing the team’s game presentation, game night promotions and giveaways, in-arena activities and our fan events team. This individual will assist with sponsorship activation and key community initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be a creative and energetic leader who possesses outstanding communication and organization skills and is driven to deliver a fun, exciting and professional game experience and atmosphere for Steel fans.

How You’ll Contribute:

  • Develop and execute the team’s annual promotions schedule, building themed game night promotions for all regular season home games.
  • Create in-arena rituals and “can’t-miss” moments unique to the Chicago Steel. Research and order promotional giveaways, closely working with team and league vendors.
  • Carefully prepare, craft, and produce game night timing sheets and scripts, ensuring all in-game sponsor and promotional reads, videos and promotions are accounted for.
  • Direct the team’s in-arena show on game nights to maximize the experience for all fans in attendance.
  • Manage all game presentation and fan events staff, including but not limited to public address announcer, video board operators, music operator, lights, ice-level promotions staff, mascot and others.
  • Collaborate with the team’s Head of Production/Technical Director to ensure the team’s video board and broadcast product brings to life the in-arena experience.
  • Plan and activate arena lobby and other on-site experiences for fans attending home games and other special events.
  • Collaborate with other departments to secure sponsor/promotional elements including scripts, videos, giveaways, props, prizes and more.
  • Bring theme nights to life by leading development of promotional activities and book characters, special guests, and event partners.
  • Work with ticket sales department to collaborate on specific initiatives designed to maximize ROI and introduce the Steel to new fans.
  • Oversee the execution of key community initiatives such as the club’s Live Strong as Steel school assembly program and actively enroll schools, charities and non-profits in the team’s “Charity of the Game” and fundraising programs.
  • Work with corporate partnerships department to assist with sponsorship activation and season summaries/recaps.

Player Stats and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in live event presentation/promotions. Hockey experience a plus.
  • Dynamic and performance-driven, with interpersonal skills to motivate and inspire others across the organization at multiple levels.
  • Confident & creative thinker with strong experience in brainstorming and developing unique, promotions strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a large group of staff or volunteers.
  • Team player willing to assist in all other areas of the business operation.
  • Excellent project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as a team; both nights and weekends. This includes all home games plus some special events and select community appearances.
  • Ability to address, adapt to, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Demonstrates organizational core values of integrity, curiosity, empathy, collaboration, and originality.
  • Bachelor’s degree in sport management, marketing, communications or equivalent field.
  • Must be able to work non-traditional hours as the business requires including but not limited to nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to work from Fox Valley Arena in Geneva, IL through the remainder of the 2025 - 2026 season and then report to the United Center offices once the club relocates to downtown Chicago, IL (estimated May 2026).

The Chicago Steel, members of the United States Hockey League (USHL), are celebrating their 26th season and are one of the most decorated junior hockey teams in the world in recent years.

Since 2015, the Steel have won two Clark Cup Championships (2017 and 2021), two Anderson Cup Championships (regular season titles), and three conference championships. Since the inaugural 2000-2001 season, nearly 400 Chicago Steel players have played Division I hockey, and 63 Steel alumni have been selected in the NHL draft, including seven first-round selections. In the summer of 2026, the Steel will move from Geneva, IL to the west side of Chicago and will begin play at the brand-new Championship Rink at Fifth Third Arena.
