 The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, American Hockey League affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, are seeking a Goals Foundation Intern for the fall semester from August - December.  This individual will work directly with the Business Development Department and gain firsthand experience in the field of fundraising, non-profit planning, and event experience.  This is a game night internship with weekday hours based on school schedule and workload.   You will need to attend all home games, based on your school schedule. This is an UNPAID and semester-long position.  Applicants MUST be receiving school credit to be considered.

Key Responsibilities:
Game Day Fundraising Support:
  • Assist with game day fundraising activities, including 50/50 raffles, jersey raffles, tire toss, and merchandise drops. 
  • Prepare items for fundraiser sales, ensuring all materials are organized and ready for use.

Event Fundraiser Preparation:
  • Support the planning and execution of event fundraisers such as the Penguins 5K, the Santa Brunch, and Pens and Pins events.
  • Assist with logistics, registration, and participant coordination.

Donation Requests:
  • Fulfill donation request bags, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Maintain records of donation requests and follow up with recipients as needed.

Fundraiser Group Outings:
  • Follow up on fundraiser group outings, ensuring a positive experience for all participants.
  • Assist with the coordination and communication for group outings.

Social Media Content Creation:
  • Create engaging content for the foundation's social media platforms to promote events, highlight successes, and engage with the community.
  • Monitor social media channels and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.

Learning and Development:
  • Gain exposure to other departments, including ticket sales, sponsorship sales, and creative services.
  • Participate in department meetings and training sessions.

Project Work:
  • Complete a project encompassing the entire fundraiser sale cycle from concept to creation.
  • Present the project to the foundation team, showcasing the skills and knowledge acquired during the internship.

Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a bachelor’s degree program in Nonprofit Management, Sports Management, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Internship must be for credit
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for community engagement and the foundation’s mission.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in event planning, fundraising, or nonprofit work.
  • Creative skills for content creation and social media engagement.
