This New Media/Digital Media Internship will assist in enhancing the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins' online presence.  The New Media/Digital Media intern will play a critical role in content creation for the team's various digital platforms, including the team website, app, social media channels and other outlets.

This is an UNPAID, semester-long position, running from September 2019-December 2019.  Applicants MUST be receiving school credit to be considered.  Local candidates preferred.

  • Assist with day to day maintenance of all digital channels
  • In-Game updates across all Social Media outlets for home a select road games.
  • Coordinate game-night marketing initiatives (First Goal Contest, Check In To Win Contest, Starting Lineup Graphic, Starting Goaltender Graphic, End of Period Scoring Graphics, Postgame Graphics)
  • Updating Photo Galleries on Penguins Flickr and Facebook page.
  • Coverage of team practices
  • Assist with postgame video gathering (coaches/player interviews, game highlights)
  • Coordination of weekly scheduled social media activities (This Date In Penguins History, WBS Legends, Trivia Contests, Birthdays, etc).
  • Explore new digital initiatives and help maintain existing social media channels
  • Tracking of social media growth and reach.
  • Assist with video shoots, game day arena setup and implementation of special events, including but not limited to season ticket holder parties, charity appearances and season kickoff parties
  • Other duties as assigned (in office, at arena, remote)
  • Basic knowledge of ice hockey and the Penguins organization
  • Must receive school credit.
  • Must have own transportation to assigned events.
  • Flexible hours based on workload.
  • Available to work evenings and weekend events.
  • Ability to think creatively.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Photoshop, Social Media Outlets (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest)
  • Knowledge of video editing programs (Premier Pro, Final Cut) a plus.
  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills, be self directed and able to follow both written and oral instructions.
  • Neat and professional appearance.
  • Ability to lift items up to 30 pounds
