Summary: A Conversion Team Member is responsible for completing the changeovers of the building from one event to another. Types of changeovers include installation and removal of basketball floor, ice decking, stages, chairs, retractable seating, furniture… This position, in conjunction with the rest of the conversion team, will be responsible for participating in the setup and tear down of events and transitioning to the next event. This is a part-time, max 30-hour/week position. Work shifts are typically in the overnight hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the specific setup and tear down of hockey glass, ice decking, hockey walls, basketball court, and other event related equipment.
- Work efficiently and accurately to guarantee event conversions are completed in time
- Accurately setup event items pertaining to staging, tables, chairs, pipe & drape, barricade, bike rack, etc.
- Ensure that your tasks are completed appropriately per the specific event memo
- Review weekly work assignments with Conversion Manager and Conversion Assistant
- Assist Building Operations Department with maintenance projects as needed when conversion workload permits
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Experience interpreting event layouts, maps and staging configurations
- Knowledge of StageRight staging materials is preferred
- Must be able to work overnight shifts consecutively, weekends and holidays as required
- Must be able to safely and efficiently operate equipment and power tools
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior Supervisor/Manager level experience required
- A minimum of 2-4 years of related work experience, sport and concert venue experience is a plus
Physical Demands and Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The ability to stand up to 8 hours without a break. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an office/rink/arena environment, with noise levels usually moderate to loud. Work areas can become crowded with equipment and/or people.
