Marketing: Event Marketing
Our Marketing & Creative Services team is made up of inspired, creative, eager and talented minds who passionately grow the sport of hockey in Iowa.  We are constantly learning, growing, and adapting to new technology and platforms to connect and engage with our fans.  Our vision is to grow stronger together as a hockey community, connect with our fans and partners in a meaningful way, and entertain the state of Iowa with an exciting, professional, and innovative product. Our Manager of Marketing Promotions and Events plays a key role in bringing that vision to life.

As our Manager of Marketing Promotions and Events, YOU WILL:
  • Drive Revenue.  A large part of our success is connecting our community and business partners with our fans and driving revenue.  With our mission always top of mind, you will create and execute various theme nights and promotional strategies that will create fun and excitement for fans coming to Wells Fargo Arena.  You will also create mutually-beneficial, engaging, and Iowa Wild brand-centric sponsorship elements to sell to partners.  You manage these assets and work alongside our sales team and game presentation manager to execute concepts, provide end results, and reach sales goals.
  • Bring events to life. We are in the business of creating lifelong memories. And you are in the business of creating those memories by providing a great experience and interaction with the Iowa Wild brand. Working closely with the Director of Marketing, Community Programs and Events, you will strategically build and plan the promotions and logistics for each game, season ticket holder event, or any other Iowa Wild event. You may find yourself reaching out to local businesses to build partnerships that amplify a specific theme night or creating our next local concert series line-up.  Your execution and management of these games and events will impact the future success of the Iowa Wild, not only the connection with the community, but the growth of our fan base.
  • Take pride in entertaining and serving our fans. Providing a memorable, entertaining experience for our fans, regardless of the score, is what keeps them coming back. Are you interested in creating those memories by planning, preparing and executing a game plan that ensures first-class entertainment and customer experience?  From the moment doors open to the moment the last fan exits, you are insuring the fan journey is professional, enjoyable, exciting, and service-first.  As our Manager of Marketing Promotions and Events, you will be responsible for creating this experience and leading a large game day staff that perfectly delivers what our fans see and interact with when at an Iowa Wild game – whether on the concourse or in the bowl. Delivering a first-class experience is what keeps them coming back!
  • Proudly build our brand throughout the community. Events in Des Moines can take place throughout the weekends, weeknights, or both! And wherever the people are, that is where we want to be! People see you as helpful, someone who listens and anticipates our communities’ needs and desires. You solve problems before anyone even knows they’re there with a solution that is greater than their expectations could ever be. You will plan, launch, manage and continuously execute community and marketing events from start to finish, creating an approachable and fun atmosphere for attendees to remember.
  • Strategically lead a team to success. Just as we develop and invest in our players, we develop and invest in our staff.  You will lead a part time staff to create memorable experiences for all those who interact with our brand.  You are passionate about creating lifelong memories, an exciting atmosphere, and you instill confidence and provide support to your team to do the same.  You lead by example and just as your team wears many hats, you do, too! You may find yourself helping with ticket sales, creating content or even attending community programs with our mascot, Crash.

  • Cultural Centerpiece and Contagiously Enthusiastic. Your interaction with our employees, fans and community is constant. Day or night, weekday or weekend, connections matter 24/7. People see you as a supportive resource and a critical part of our team and the Iowa Wild’s culture and brand. You thrive on interactions within our community, sharing our customer benefit programs and promoting the sport of hockey. You present the best version of yourself and our brand, both on and off the ice. Approaching this job requires the time, flexibility and willingness to communicate, collaborate, and understand that the different gears of our organization work together as one to produce results.
  • Pillar of our Fan Development Efforts. Growing the sport of hockey in Central Iowa has been a huge part of the Iowa Wild brand since the team’s inception in 2013. With your assistance, the Wild organization will continue to leave a positive mark on those they cross paths with whether it be at a game or in the community. Your hard work in planning and executing a fun and engaging environment will better connect the organization with our fan base and grow the relationship between the team and its biggest supporters!
  • Focused Executor. We believe big ideas reap even bigger rewards when managed effectively. Everything you do touches people, so flawless execution is non-negotiable. Your work can be fast-paced and it can be easy to lose sight of the details, but that’s where the magic is at. With independent, self-motivation and task prioritization, you focus on getting things done quickly and flawlessly. Of course, you’re not perfect, so when mistakes are made, you step up, take responsibility and work to make it right.
  • Servant Leader. At the Iowa Wild, everything we do is grounded in serving. You serve our organization, each other, our fans and our community. Timely, professional, and courteous are ingrained in your being. Leadership is not a rank, it’s an acknowledgement of responsibility knowing you are connected to our team-oriented organization and the fans we serve.

  • Listen to you. We need your thoughts, ideas and passion to help make this the best team in sports and entertainment. You talk, we’ll listen.
  • Treat you like an adult. We will trust you to get the work done in a way that makes sense for you. We measure output and impact.
  • Challenge you. We promise you'll be surrounded by people equally committed to the Iowa Wild and producing a product that is the best in the state of Iowa, the AHL, and all of hockey. You won’t find more passionate people all focused on growing the sport. Go Wild!
