Job Summary

The Marketing Coordinator is a motivated, creative, and data-driven professional who supports the Grand Rapids Griffins' marketing efforts through digital advertising, email marketing, CRM campaigns, gameday promotions, and fan engagement initiatives. This entry-level position plays a key role in growing the Griffins brand, driving ticket sales, and enhancing the fan experience by leveraging modern marketing technology, analytics, and AI-powered tools. Working closely with the Ticket Sales and Digital Marketing team, the Marketing Coordinator will help execute integrated marketing campaigns, analyze performance, and continually optimize communications to reach new and existing fans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute integrated marketing campaigns supporting season memberships, partial plans, hospitality packages, group outings, and single-game ticket sales.
  • Develop and deploy email, SMS, and CRM marketing campaigns using Salesforce CRM, Agentforce, and other marketing automation tools.
  • Assist in planning and executing digital advertising campaigns across paid search, social media, streaming, display, and other digital platforms.
  • Promote ticket offers, special events, community initiatives, and gameday experiences through owned, earned, and paid marketing channels.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and external partners to coordinate creative assets and campaign deliverables.
  • Write and edit compelling copy for email, SMS, website, digital advertising, radio, social media, and other fan-facing communications.
  • Manage the weekly marketing communications calendar, ensuring campaigns are completed on schedule and receive all necessary approvals.
  • Assist in building, testing, and optimizing automated customer journeys, audience segmentation, and personalized marketing communications within Salesforce CRM.
  • Monitor campaign performance using dashboards, CRM reporting, Google Analytics, and other marketing analytics tools, providing recommendations for optimization.
  • Research marketing trends, emerging technologies, AI applications, and best practices across professional sports and entertainment to identify innovative opportunities.
  • Leverage AI-powered marketing tools to improve content creation, campaign execution, workflow efficiency, and fan engagement while maintaining brand standards and human oversight.
  • Perform quality assurance on marketing assets, landing pages, forms, links, and customer journeys to ensure a seamless fan experience.
  • Contribute creative ideas that strengthen the Griffins brand, increase fan engagement, and drive measurable ticket revenue.
  • Support marketing, sales, and game presentation initiatives through promotions, fan events, community appearances, and gameday activations.
  • Assist with additional marketing and departmental projects as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, sports management, business, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships, freelance work, volunteer experience, or collegiate athletics experience encouraged).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and proofreading ability. 
  • Working knowledge of digital marketing, email marketing, CRM systems, and digital advertising principles. 
  • Experience with or a willingness to learn marketing automation platforms, Salesforce, and AI-powered marketing tools. 
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret campaign performance, evaluate results, and identify opportunities for optimization. 
  • Highly organized with excellent project management and time management skills, capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. 
  • Creative thinker who enjoys developing innovative ideas while remaining focused on measurable business results. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Google Analytics, Meta Ads Manager, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar marketing tools is a plus. 
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. 
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for Griffins home games and special events.
