Job Summary:

Reporting directly to the Chief Venue Officer, the VP, Venue & Capital Projects oversees comprehensive management of venue renovation and construction projects at AMALIE Arena. This role is responsible for technical elements (electrical, HVAC, etc.), and for ensuring seamless venue operational functioning while prioritizing site logistics for capital projects. The VP, Venue & Capital Projects collaborates with various internal and external stakeholder, including senior leadership in order to deliver a portfolio of venue development projects on time, within budget, and fulfilling all stakeholder requirements and needs. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Project Management 

•    Develop, oversee, and drive the implementation of the venues master planning, design and construction, strategic land use planning, and long and short-term capital project delivery at AMALIE Arena. 
•    Responsible for the process on the following project elements such as: structural, architectural, interiors, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, civil, utilities, low voltage and foodservice, FF&E, and others
•    Lead all aspects of pre-design, design, construction, and post-occupancy phases including but not limited to, budget compliance, schedule requirements, and maintenance of the scope or quality of the project 
•    Direct and oversee entitlement and governmental approval processes 
•    Provide consultation with respect to design value engineering, scope of work, general contractor and subcontractor prequalification and scheduling 
•    Ability to manage different project types including partnership buildout, signage, FF&E, renovations, and new construction 
•    Perform risk analysis as it relates to construction documents, plans, budget, and schedule 
•    Effectively communicate with the project design and construction team and external stakeholder, clients, and company executives
•    Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders including but not limited to Partnerships, Facility Services, Food & Beverage 
•    Manage contract personnel, including (but not limited to) project architects, engineers, general contractors, sub-contractors, sign contractors, governmental personnel and inspectors, and other stakeholders
•    Responsible for fiscal year business planning for department
 

Engineering

•    Review and assess current assets, operations, systems, programs and policies regarding facilities engineering operations and current/future use requirements 
•    Implement policies that increase efficiencies, address risks, improve quality of service, and ensure cost-effective management of resources 
•    Oversee the execution of long-term preventative maintenance and asset protection plans of all mechanical and physical assets for the venue 
•    Oversee long range plan of systems replacement or major repair providing capital expectations over 10 years in the future 

Leadership

•    Provide technical expertise and leadership to the Projects & Planning team 
•    Foster a culture of new thinking, innovation, and technology that will ensure operational excellence 
•    Listen, collaborate, and communicate with transparency to support meaningful and effective relationships across the organization. 
•    Perform all other duties as assigned
 

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or similar degree required 
•    8-10 years of progressive experience in venue, project, or construction management with direct responsibility for leading a team required 
•    Highly proficient in construction methodologies, reading blueprints, building codes, and applicable safety regulations
•    Must be able to collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors and/or a general contractor, to deliver projects on time and within budget
•    Strong organization and communication skills along with sharp attention to detail
•    Effective verbal and written communication skills
•    Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while making quick and strategic decisions
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe, AutoCAD, and industry-related software programs
•    Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays pursuant to industry and project demands
•    Demonstrated skills in managing successful projects, including budgets and timelines, and the ability to procure and engage construction and consulting services. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
•    Ability to respond effectively and diplomatically to sensitive issues
•    Outstanding internal and external customer service skills
 

Supervisory & Management Responsibilities:

•    Lead Planning & Projects department
•    At least one direct report
