Position Overview
The Greenville Swamp Rabbits are seeking a driven, detail-oriented Merchandise Intern to join our front office team. This position offers a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at the sports retail industry, spanning both brick-and-mortar arena operations and e-commerce management.
As part of our retail team, you will learn day-to-day inventory logistics, online order fulfillment, and game-day fan experiences. If you have a passion for sports business, retail management, or apparel design, this internship will provide a great experience learning key operational projects in a fast-paced professional hockey environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- E-Commerce & Fulfillment: Manage daily online store operations via Shopify. Process, pack, and ship fan orders with a high level of accuracy and presentation.
- Inventory Control: Assist with receiving, counting, and organizing new inventory. Help maintain a clean, highly functional working space and track stock levels in our arena retail locations.
- Game Day Operations: Support the setup, operation, and teardown of the main team store and auxiliary merchandise stands during Swamp Rabbits home games.
- Customer Experience: Deliver exceptional service to fans both in-person on game days and through e-commerce fulfillment.
- Visual Merchandising: Assist in designing floor layouts, updating displays, and stocking apparel to optimize sales and highlight new product drops (including special theme nights and partnership releases).
- Specialty Nights: Support the merchandise department in preparing for major retail events.
Qualifications & Skills
- Currently enrolled in a college or university and must be eligible to receive academic credit in order to be considered.
- Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail—especially when managing inventory counts and order shipping logs.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including game nights, weekends, and holidays, based on organization events schedule.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Comfortable lifting up to 35 lbs and standing for extended periods during game nights.
