This is a full-time athletic training position for Midwest Orthopedic Center, a privately owned
orthopedic physician group in Peoria, IL. Midwest Orthopedic Center provides Sports
Medicine coverage to area high schools, colleges and a semi-pro hockey team in Peoria, IL.
The position will be for a Head Athletic Trainer for the Peoria Rivermen Hockey Club. They
are a part of the Southern Professional Hockey League.
Job responsibilities include:
1. Coverage of practices, and home/away contests as assigned by Midwest Orthopedic
Center and Peoria Rivermen Hockey Club.
2. Assistance with in-clinic patient care.
3. Injury prevention, evaluation, management, treatment/referral, and coordination of
return to play for all athletic injuries including communication with assigned athletes,
orthopedic physician, coaches and parents.
4. Marketing/promoting Midwest Orthopedic Center’s services and programs.
5. Inventory/supply ordering; and record keeping.
6. Assistance with pre-participation physicals.
7. Accurate maintenance/record keeping of players health records.
8. Impact test administrator and concussion protocol management.
Additional responsibilities include coordinating medical services between team orthopedic
physician and other athletic training staff, acting as a liaison between the Peoria Rivermen
Hockey Club, coaches, and other medical personnel. Additional responsibilities may be
assigned by the Director of Rehabilitation and/or athletic training leadership.
Required: An undergraduate degree in athletic training or related field from a CAATE
accredited college/university; BOC certification; CPR/AED/First Aid Certified; current Illinois
State License, and a member in good standing with the NATA. This position also requires travel
and working days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
