The Peoria Rivermen, one of the most successful franchises in the SPHL with a passionate fan base and championship tradition, are seeking an energetic, creative, and motivated Director of Communications & Broadcasting to lead the organization's communications, digital content, and game presentation efforts.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced sports environment and enjoys telling compelling stories through broadcasting, video, graphic design, photography, website, and social media.
Primary Responsibilities
🎙️ Play-by-Play Broadcasting
- Serve as the Voice of the Peoria Rivermen for all home and away broadcasts.
- Prepare game notes, statistics, player information, and storylines.
- Conduct pregame, intermission, and postgame interviews.
- Coordinate broadcasts with league and streaming partners.
- Assist with media requests and press credentials.
🎨 Creative Services
- Design graphics for:
- Social media
- Sponsorship fulfillment
- Game day promotions
- Ticket sales
- Community events
- Website
- Email marketing
- Create motion graphics and digital assets.
- Maintain consistent brand standards across all platforms.
🎥 Video Production
- Capture and edit game highlights.
- Produce promotional videos and commercials.
- Create player features and behind-the-scenes content.
- Develop sponsor fulfillment videos.
- Shoot photography and video during practices, community appearances, and team events.
📱 Social Media & Digital Communications
- Manage all official Rivermen social media accounts.
- Develop engaging content calendars.
- Create real-time game coverage.
- Grow audience engagement and digital reach.
- Monitor trends and implement new social media strategies.
- Write compelling captions and marketing copy.
- Manage website news stories and updates.
📰 Media Relations
- Write and distribute press releases.
- Maintain media contacts throughout Central Illinois.
- Coordinate player and coach interviews.
- Compile statistical reports and league submissions.
- Produce game notes and media guides.
🏒 Game Day Responsibilities
- Broadcast every Rivermen game.
- Maintain photos and videos.
- Produce social media content throughout the game.
- Coordinate postgame interviews and highlights.
- Ensure timely content delivery after each game.
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will possess:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, Marketing, Broadcasting, or related field.
- Experience in sports broadcasting or play-by-play announcing preferred.
- Strong knowledge of hockey is highly preferred.
- Experience with:
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Photoshop
- Illustrator
- Premiere Pro
- After Effects
- Canva
- Social media management platforms
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Photography and videography experience.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays during the hockey season.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Passion for professional sports and storytelling.

What You'll Do
Every day is different. One morning you may be creating graphics for an upcoming theme night, spending the afternoon interviewing players, producing sponsor content, and then calling that night's game while simultaneously creating social media content that reaches thousands of Rivermen fans.
