Position Overview:
The Head Equipment Manager for the Knoxville Ice Bears is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the team's equipment needs. This includes managing inventory, maintaining and repairing equipment, and coordinating with players and coaches to ensure all equipment is properly fitted and in optimal condition. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of hockey equipment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Management:
- Oversee the procurement, inventory, and maintenance of all team equipment, including uniforms, skates, sticks, protective gear, and training tools.
- Ensure all equipment meets the safety standards set by the league and the team.
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform regular maintenance and repairs on all equipment, including sharpening skates, repairing sticks, and ensuring uniforms are in good condition.
- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers for equipment repairs and replacements as needed.
Player Support:
- Work closely with players to ensure their equipment fits properly and meets their individual needs and preferences.
- Provide on-site equipment support during practices and games, including addressing any issues that arise quickly and efficiently.
Team Coordination:
- Collaborate with coaches, medical staff, and other team personnel to ensure seamless operations regarding equipment and player readiness.
- Manage the setup and breakdown of equipment and locker rooms for home and away games.
Inventory Management:
- Maintain detailed records of equipment inventory, including tracking usage, wear, and necessary replacements.
- Manage the budget for equipment purchases and repairs, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all equipment adheres to SPHL regulations and safety standards.
- Implement and enforce team policies regarding equipment usage and care.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in equipment management, preferably within a professional or collegiate hockey team.
Extensive knowledge of hockey equipment, including maintenance and repair techniques.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the team’s schedule.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in budgeting and inventory management.
Ability to lift heavy equipment and stand for long periods.
Must have elite sewing skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in equipment management or related field.
Previous experience in a supervisory role.
Knowledge of SPHL rules and regulations.

Includes housing for the duration of the season, and pays $500/weekly.
